This is one of my all-time favorite covers by Sia - originally performed by The Church in 1988 - Under the Milkey Way - I posted about this song a couple of times on YouTube over the years how Sia; for a long time, never got credit for covering this song.

Wikipedia gives the credit to Sia Furler for 'Under the Milky Way' in 2010... but, this is wrong; Sia had been recorded earlier and released for a TV advertisement a year earlier...

Again, I posted about this some years ago; back when I was fond of Sia's singing; long before her gimmick 'hair' stage presence of today. But, this has to be one of her best covers ever; even today, it still has a wonderful sound to it. __________ and now to my older post...

This is one of those songs that deserved to be re-arranged and re-sung by an awesome voice; and when Sia sang this cover & version, it made me melt. When I first heard this version of this song, it was years ago, played for some car Ad; the Lincoln MKT commercial back in early 2009 upon as a TV commercial release. That was when I began my search to find out who this singer was; long before I knew who 'Sia' was ...and, there began my difficult search.

I didn't know of Sia, nor did the advertisement give me any clue, but I knew if I searched long and hard enough online, I'd eventually find the singer and song (keeping in mind 'a younger Internet.' Back then, this song hadn't yet been released as a single or on an LP; as far as I knew, it was done exclusively for the car Ad, as so many other songs were, most often called 'jingles' - but this was no jingle. I only found a reference to this singer through a blog on a website, but no mention (or credit) to Sia of this song, but and even then, the song was not yet up on Youtube. Not knowing this lady was from Australia didn't make my search any easier either; Sia was still a bit obscure from Mainstream music scene in the U.S; despite already performing a few live session on air on SoCal's KCRW in 2006 and 2007 on 'Morning Becomes Eclectic.' Anyway, I wasn't yet aware of Sia. Despite all this, it took me a while, but I eventually found the entire song on YouTube, but of a poor recording, which I then held onto it like gold... until I found this later uploaded 'pure gold' version.

Even today,* (noted below) if you look up Sia Furler's discography on Wikipedia, you won't find a mention of this song on it, or the commercial. And what a shame this is; if it hadn't been for the commercial, I'd never have known or learned Sia and of her previous work -- well, at least for a while. However, she had done other nice songs in the past, like Breathe Me, Don't Bring Me Down, and 'Numb;' including five albums 1997 to 2010. But none of the songs; in my opinion, that she had done were as lovely as she performed with, Under the Milky Way.

* (11/23/14) Back when I wrote this original post, Wikipedia hadn't updated Sia's discography yet, crediting her performance of this song; however, it now has now been updated, with a small paragraph-update on Sia's Wiki page...It's About Time. ; )

Keep in mind that Sia is only credited for the song's release in January of 2010 and not when the actual car Ad came out; however, she recorded this song much earlier to correspond to the early 2009 Lincoln MKT commercial release; much earlier before the song's 'official' release date; perhaps possibly due to contractual obligations, but just not sure.

But, if you want to get metaphorical, most of our atoms are created from stars which exploded millions of years ago. So, technically you're totally right.
