She didn't really had the hippie spirit, though. She drank only tea and orange hus, stayed away from drugs and when not on the road sat on the coach at her parents' to watch TV.

Man,  if she would have some better material after 'Venus', who knows how far her and the band would have gone.  Nearly all of their work after it is really not very good, especially compared with what else was out there.  I could have seen her easily capturing a big part of the US market just from guys who wanted to watch her perform.  But, even her looks and strong voice couldn't overcome the weak material she was given back then.  This is one of the worst 'big time misses' of any group around.  She deserved a bit better than this.  Maybe they'll manage to shake up the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame crowd and get a hearing for Veres leading the way for female performers in the future.

If you read the whole comment I referred to their initial period prior to 1972.  After that they fell off the US charts and were big in Europe.  I was surprised at how iconic the group was in Spain, for example.  However, I'll stick with my beliefs about their music post 1972.  Some of its pretty bad, and was big reason Veres left the group.

There are a few songs after 1971 that you should check out. Time Slips Away, Velvet Heaven, and SO FAR FROM HOME if you haven't already. Those three are my favorite post-Venus songs. All the songs listed above by Carlos Rivera are fantastic. Scorpio's Dance the instrumental is incredible too. Wish they had gotten more airplay in the U.S.

Is that right? It would be amazing hair if it is real.

@zanmirrob Of course she had long and thick hair, but she also admitted once that some of the amount and volume was due to wigs. By those years, on the other hand, rinse and moisture cream wasn't often used as today, because thick and voluminous hair was in fashion.

Mariska actually had hair that thick, but it was extremely curly/frizzy. She wore wigs because she hated her natural hair texture.
