Where I was young my mom told me if I don't straight up I end up in prison like my cousin she was wrong.

My old preacher was my closest friend back from 2008-2018. He was so kind and nice, I was 2 when I met him, and he taught me what Christianity was, he taught me how to not only believe in a religion, but in myself and others. He always was there for me, through my mom and dads divorce, when my grandma died and the other grandma got cancer. He baptized me on February 12, 2016 (the anniversary is in 2 days) and I thought I couldn’t be happier. I kept going to church and seeing him until July 5, 2018, when My friend, that I had known since the beginning, died in a car crash. I was broken, I locked myself in a room for 3 days without food or noise, I was 12 and it sent me into almost a depression. I heard this song and it reminded me on how to be a Simple Man. I’m 13 now and I’m still and always be hurt by his death, but I know that his spirit still lives on. In my toughest times, I think about being a Simple Man. I want you all to know, there is a someone up above and there’s something to believe in. I love this version better than the original and I don't care who that pisses off or why it would. It's my opinion. This rendition is amazing. So is Lynderd Skynder's but I just love this one more. Also, Jenson Ackles sings this song and he sings it amazingly. He could easily have a career in singing after he's done with Supernatural this last season.

A year ago today- January 23rd, 2019, this version was playing on the radio on the way to my mom's funeral. I know it's a song intended for a son, but I think the words can be for daughter as well. I took this as a sign from my mom since she was my best friend and life is not the same, my heart is broken and I miss her so much. I love you forever and always mom, rest in peace. ❤️
