Shawn Colvin - Bonefields Lyrics

All and all I guess that there's so many things that we don't say and
It's what makes us sad I think sometimes
That makes us close but I don't mind, I don't mind
In the alleys and the bonefields of Arkansa past the piles of tires and the
smell of hot tar you threw your papers
In the rain under your hat you had a world, ummmm….a world
There ain't no father
There ain't no mother
There ain't no sister
Ain't got no brother
Running to no one
Running for cover
In the valleys and the twilight of Illinois under the
New moon I write in my book and I walk the streets
Where no one lives not even you but, you don't mind
Ahhh….. You don't mind
And all and all I guess that there's so many things that
We don't say … today you think that I don't even like
You but don't you know YOU ARE MY WORLD, mmmm…MY WORLD
There ain't no father
There ain't no mother
I don't see my sister
Ain't got no brothers
Running to no one
Left to each other…

There ain't no father
There ain't no mother
I don't see my sister
Ain't got no brothers
Running to Jesus
Running to lovers
Running to strangers
Running for cover
Running to no one
Left to each other

I love this song, she writes like a boy, from a female perspective. Like Adam Duritz, from Counting Crows, he writes like a girl, coming from a male perspective. They're both brilliant singer songwriters! Shawn Colvin has a very special place waiting for her, wherever she goes, she's got heart & soul. And she's a masterful songwriting talent, wordy and genius!

    I'm sorry .....
It's just such a shame that REALLY talented singer-songwriters in the country & western genre tend to move towards MOR music under the pressure of music industry.
Shawn Colvin is so much better than this .....

    P.... K....

She's never been a "country & western" singer.

This song is so cool, so wise. The image of the figure walking on what appear to be enormous digital storage devices with a huge transmission tower seems to gibe with the idea of some quantum reality projected...I love the 'reality' Shawn Colvin paints in her songs. This image is so far advanced of today's digital age/awareness that I can't help but wonder where Shawn got the idea...Love you Shawn Colvin...Peace
