Scaggs, Boz - Stormy Monday Blues Lyrics

They call it Stormy Monday
But Tuesday's just as bad
They call it Stormy Monday
But Tuesday's just as bad
And Wednesday's worse
And Thursday's oh so sad
The eagle flies on Friday
And Saturday I go out to play
The eagle flies on Friday
Saturday I go out to play
On Sunday I go to church
And I kneel down and pray

Whoah... lord have mercy
lord have mercy on me
Lord have mercy my soul's in misery
You know I'm crazy 'bout my baby
Please send her home to me

Whoah....lord have mercy
Lord please have mercy on me
Lord have mercy my soul's in misery
You know I'm crazy 'bout my baby
Oh send her home to me

    4-29-19

  38. L.... ....

If there's not tension-release in the progress of the tune, no tasteful ebb and flow, this tune can be a damned bore....these guys mastered it I think. Who would think of playing the single notes Duane plays from 4:58 to 5:06 and just squeezing them each in a different way. amazing.

  39. s.... ....

Time slashing and reaping, near 50 years have passed . Bad news ,it's not coming back southern pride is almost illegal, the hippies were phoney trust fund babies and became lawyers, politicians bankers and humanitarian warmongers . I guess we always knew that would be the future anyway.

  40. J.... G....

ONE OF THE BEST BLUES SONGS EVER.. BIG JIM

  41. M.... T....

    right on

  42. W.... N....

Betts and Duane were both AAA. No competition, both great. for best two guitarists of the early era to ever play together. Beck and Page played a few Yardbirds coolies but the Allmans stand alone.

  43. J.... L....

Anyone who has ever suffered depression know the greatness of "Whipping Post'',
    all 23 minutes.

  44. A.... K....

This is "Soul" music to my life blood!
This brings out the best in me every time I hear this "incredible work of art!"
I've never been so inspired by a song like this and "In Memory of Elizabeth Reed." Both Legendary

  45. M.... C....

WHENE YOU HAVE A RUFF WEEK YOU GO TO CHURCH ON SUNDAYS

  46. M.... L....

After all these years it still holds up like it was fresh and brand new! I think the Tedeschi Trucks Band is keeping this candle lit today!

  47. j.... G....

Listen to Duane's smooth way he takes the tune from a regular blues and segues it into a jazz piece for Gregg to start his solo...Berry, always keeping a wave of sound against two fine drummers..they were/are so amazing. And , this is LIVE the raw unedited stuff.....

  48. M.... C....

stormy Monday was the first song played great western form 1979 long hair standing over his piano hooofffaaa

  49. J.... H....

I think Greg was the best white blues singer ever. The cat had that "spirit" to his voice.

  50. R.... S....

Great solo Mr Duanne Allman , and Gregg with keyboard Rememberin this song 1971 Fillmore

When I was about 16, this girl on our street - Karen Peel , and myself went to Winterland and seen this show. We were both so stunned , we went back the next night----- you could buy tickets or even get them at the door... The Bay area was so happening in the 70's and 80's with music... Every big time musician wanted to play in San Francisco... and they did.... Local bands were Neil Young , Airplane, Dead , Doobies , Robben Ford, Zepplin just about lived here, Quicksilver , Joni , csny.... BB King.. thats the short list...

  61. I.... b....

  65. q.... a....

Duane's solo (first one) is as perfect a solo as exists in the annals of rock. Every note, every bend, every tone, absolutely flawless. Best white blues players ever, and likely the finest rock band of all time

  66. B.... T....

A thousand times upvote!!! The best southern rock of all time!! Who’s better? Long live this music!!!!

  67. S.... R....

For me, this is one of the best blues recording in the world. Before y'all lynch me, I'm just saying that on this night, for this performance, everything came together in a way that is classic. I've hear other AB recordings of the same song, as well as a ton of others playing Stormy Monday, and none hold a candle to this version. Gawd I miss Duane's playing.

  68. C.... B....

    Best Music,Ever ! Rockin them Blues !

  69. K.... L....

    Luv dem blues

  70. M.... ....

Descartes said that joie, paix, sentiment (joy, peace, vibrancy) proved that god exists.....he forgot the fourth, ABB live in their prime as the fourth pillar as proof that God exists

  71. T.... S....

    play on sky man

  72. j.... ....

Greg Allman is up there with Peter Green when singing soulful & bluesy.

  73. J.... T....

  76. S.... D....

This was my first concert ever, at Boston Garden, I was 16. My older cousin Beth accompanied me! Love the Allman Bros.!!

  77. A.... O....

The good always die young. I question my existence.

  78. J.... S....

Wonderful song played by many fine musicians. My friend Jimmy Jack used to play it around Leflore county Oklahoma about 25 years ago.

  79. R.... T....

song is proof less is more n ebb n flow builds n builds all at the right time n then Duane brings it on home

  80. R.... B....

I put the poster in the hall outside of my door so I could see it every time I went out.
    Someone took it.
No surprise in that, I thought, "Enjoy the Allman Bros."

  81. J.... S....

Anyone that gave this a thumbs down has idea what good is. Listening to computer engineer music.

  82. m.... c....

    OH YEAH!!

  84. J.... L....

    This music is so relaxing...

  85. C.... P....

    Duane Allman Forever!

  86. R.... C....

Duane sliding and Dickie bending, damn ... I just don't think it gets any better than this.

    R.... C....

I don't think Duane is sliding here

  87. R.... B....

I heard other live recordings of this a few times but this has to be the "perfect" version

  88. D.... M....

Well practice makes perfect. After reading Greg's autbiography, perhaps one or more weren't playing it "thoughtfully" enough. Mind might of been on something else that night.

  89. R.... C....

I saw Gregg n 85 , by himself at the band break. He asked what I would like to hear, I said Millisa as he grabbed a 12 string and 5 feet away from me played and sang the song. For 15 $ in a club n North Charleston... Best ever n my life.

  90. H.... C....

    Lord have mercy
    Peace love and Gregg Allman

  91. M.... W....

THE GREATEST LIVE ALBUM EVER. Gregg Allman was a fantastic blues singer. Chills me to the bone. All were great musician s also. Nobody makes music like this anymore.

  92. S.... M....

What is so funny is that my older brother partied with Cher and Gregg in Macon. Lord rest his soul.

  93. J.... P....

I love it at 5:14 when they go into swing mode and Gregg doing his B3 break. Hell, I love it all!

  94. D.... D....

My dad was gonna name me "Stormy Monday" because I was born on a stormy Monday 😁✌I wouldn't have even been upset. Nobody picked a guitar like Duane. No one ever sang the blues with so much soul like Gregg. R.I.P Brothers. The Road Goes on Forever! 🍄

  95. J.... R....

Good song. It is probably a mute point after 10+ years since you published this. Just a suggestion. Look into Google Audio normalization. I have the volume max on Youtube bar and about 72% on my audio on my HP G7 series laptop. The experience is less than satisfactory. A lot of us old-times (63) have hearing loss as we get older. Mine is significantly worse because I only have one functioning ear. The other one is just on for decorations and to help balance out my glasses. I could listen through headphones/earphones. I do most of the time just not toady.

  96. Z.... N....

braco allman da li sam vas razocaro sa muyikom nesa

  97. H.... d....

It’s lonely at the top. The absolute best band ever.

  98. D.... R....

I dont know who the 375 dislikes are on here but I do know that you must be lost souls or little brats who know nothing of good music....Saw this band play three times in early 1970,s the original members.....and its funny that their music is still being played on the radio and still selling well on retail markets......So to you 375 dislikes.......Id hate to be ya....Grow up....

    D.... R....

David Ringo is sleet a fucking kids I mean they are kids either foreigners wherever they're from they must hate Americans and American music racist assholes we protect all these people and they fucking turn on us like animals I think it's time we stop fucking protecting the weak and think about the strong that are struggling in our own States All Over America what a Pity what a shame the great Democratic party is done to this great United States of America God bless all you veterans and people who served in the law enforcement and Fire and all that rescue we love you all God bless you and your family what a shame this world is coming to when we protect them they turn on us chicks got to stop somewhere I say it stops now

  99. D.... J....

I miss the days with you in 1976 on Daytona Beach. I'll see you upstairs baby!

  100. H.... ....

Seems to me , listening to this, that I just didn't do enough travelling when I was a student back in the 70's & 80's...what was i thinking ? Only got to the states a lot later on...and then only NY for a few days....I would love to have seen them live at one of their open air gigs down south......Fantastic musicianship and full of feeling.....Definitely one of the greats !
