Scaggs, Boz - Loan Me A Dime Lyrics

Somebody loan me a dime
I need to call my old time used to be
Somebody loan me a dime mmm
I need to call my old time that used to be

Little girl's been gone so long
You know it's worrying me
Hey it's worrying worrying me

I know she's a good girl
But at that time I just didn't understand
I know she's a good girl
But at that time I just didn't understand
Oh no I didn't

Somebody loan me a dime
You know I need.. I need a helping hand

Oh... she's a good girl
But at that time I just didn't understand
Ooooh I know she's a good girl
But at that time I just could not understand
Oh no

Somebody better loan me that dime
To ease my worried worried mind.. oh
Now I cry.. I just cry
Just like a baby all night long.. oooh
You know I cry I just cry
Just like a baby all night long.. oooh
Somebody better loan me that dime
I need my baby
I need my baby here at home.. oooh YES

    Boz !!!

  21. B.... H....

I played this epic tune a lot after my first wife left fourteen years ago. At the time, I didn't realize how fortunate I was. Actually, it has been over five years since I last played this.

  25. C.... N....

I had a rough day and went to this song.

  26. T.... R....

To go back and know what we know now,

  27. G.... D....

This song probably inspired many to be musicians. I decided, Why bother? Can’t get no better.

  28. V.... L....

Wow! There are people who don't like a great blues song. They must like bad rap and tearing the wings off flies with taste.

  29. E.... K....

so what's up with 858 dislike?

    E.... K....

Snowflakes have NOTHING better to do than go to the greatest songs ever and give them a thumbs down. Almost all of them are sad sack, dick-less little pussies who've never LISTENED to anything "greater" than Justin beaver.

  30. T.... ....

To me, nothing like this before or since. Lightin' in a bottle......Duane's guitar work on this can still bring me to tears.

  31. f.... ....

I only know Bozz because of the album he made in the’70s....It was ok...But he really should have stuck with this ......

  32. d.... j....

I was out of work when this was released. This song became a 'pre interview' ritual while driving to look for work. It seemed to put everything in perspective during difficult times. Still a favorite!!

  33. M.... D....

Saw The Boz man at Stanford in the late '70's. Between songs some cat in the audience yells out, 'LOAN ME A DIME, YOU SON-OF-A-BITCH!' That brought the house down. It was just perfect timing if there ever was one. Boz just smiled and played the next tune. Smooth perfect day all around. I can't play this when I'm driving because I tend to close my eyes and rock back and forth.

  34. T.... C....

Still have my vinyl.........one of my "island songs"

  35. l.... f....

    He looks like Ray Manzarek.

  36. S.... B....

This song the epitome of a classic blues number. It sinks into ones soul leaving the listener with a feeling of tranquility and hunger for more.

This tune has so very much heart and soul. It touches you if you have any feel for BLUES at all.

  44. T.... N....

Best blues solo of all time...

  45. P.... ....

Remembering Boz and the Steve Miller Band from their UW-Madison days. That is, pre-top 40 music when playing the blues was their thing.

  46. h.... b....

Wishing that we knew then what we know now. Still get that bittersweet rush down my spine, everytime those opening piano chords hit my ears and run thru to my soul. Thank you Muscle Shoals.

  47. P.... G....

    unreal this is amazing

  48. M.... B....

    Oh God.

  49. g.... i....

  51. F.... C....

Dear sweet baby Jesus that was awesome!

  52. J.... M....

I wore my 8-track of this album out and had to buy the second one. Jeez. I'm old!

  53. B.... O....

I am a 1950s baby and the "Anthology" album was my favorite. I wore it out. Close call as to the best guitarist. Duane or Hendrix. I hope the kids of today get hip to this era of music. They don''t know what the are missing. This song brings back so many memories. I'm glad I grew up then. Hard to believe it took this many years to finally get weed into the main stream. So many people wrongly imprisoned.

  54. F.... M....

    So ver swee...

  55. A.... L....

Always have time for rock n blues!!!!!!!!

  56. H.... H....

Duane Allman is an outstanding guitarist comparable with Nicolo Paganini with an extraordinary talent to bring in musical fresh ideas into music to make it for ever as an artwork!!!

  57. M.... E....

A gem in the annals of rock history.

  58. S.... F....

My soul rejoices in the beauty of the musicians on this track. Best way I can put it..... This is bliss!!!!!!!!

  59. J.... O....

842 people showed just how little they know about music!

  60. S.... Q....

    God bless musicians.

  61. T.... N....

The reason you only get 15 minutes of fame is because Duane got the other 45.

  62. b.... ....

Somebody loan that man a dime!! LAWD have Mercy!!!

  63. L.... L....

Please loan that man a dime. I’ve never heard this before — regrettable!! More More More Please!!!!!!

  66. H.... M....

    He looks like Ray Manzarek.

  67. H.... D....

Boz 's Live At The Fillmore West on The Last Days Of The Fillmore West June 30th, 1971 is an 18 min gem, raw and stellar.. Boz is a damn good guitarist in his own right, but Duane's presence is large on the original .. I loved it then and more so now .. I have Fenton Robinson's lp and it is a no wonder Boz wanted to put it on his debut Atlantic lp.. Nothing compare to the music of the 70's..

  68. b.... ....

Fifty years old music and still sends a shiver down my spine and into my soul.

  69. P.... S....

As good as gets after all those yrs. & memories, what a duo. Thanx. P.S.

  70. J.... S....

I think a lot of the success of this recording is due to the fact that it was recorded at Muscle Shoals. Duane was a studio guitar player at MS at the time.
The album has the Muscle Shoals sound and great musicians backing it. I'm sure this as well as Mr Scaggs and Mr Allman's endless talent when all factors are taken into account resulted in this album and this trac in particular being so incredibly amazing..

  71. k.... w....

I never knew they dad a album together. Nice stuff

  72. D.... Y....

This is one of my two favorite songs ever 🤘

  73. P.... H....

    Saint Duane

  74. I.... ....

3 seconds ... amount of time it takes from start to drooling . The drummer IS the glue . But an effn fade out ?!? That means somebody fucked the pooch . Guarantee it was NOT that rock of a bass player .

    I.... ....

Boz and the Swampers have said somewhere in Sheffield, Alabama, there's another 20 minutes of Paradise sitting? in a can. But they said that a few decades ago. More than likely, an unwitting cleanup guy picked it up and threw a million dollars in the trash.

  75. L.... Y....

Public telephones for a dime…what a concept…Best of the Best here

  76. b.... a....

the sound of that hammond organ ads such flavor

  77. r.... a....

Whatever kind of music you like, it's some beautiful melodies in every type of music. This rock and Motown inspired blues is such an example, and with such excellent musicians, is it pure joy to listen to.

  78. j.... d....

    Love it, bozz underrayed

  79. L.... M....

This has been one of my all time favorite songs since I first heard it on my Duane Allman Anthology Volume One Album. I have played it many times over the years. It is definately one of the best songs Duane played on as a session player.

  80. t.... s....

    Amazing..

  81. R.... W....

The great thing about Duane is how he makes it sound like many notes but actually few. He just built and built on top and only the great ones can hold you like he did at very very young age..

  82. R.... C....

    And Duane said that cat
Stevie Ray Vaughan will be coming soon to blow the doors off everything I've done!

    R.... C....

    You wish

  83. N.... M....

Just heard this tune on WXPN out of Philadelphia. Instantly downloaded it off of YouTube. Absolutely brilliant, killer song, it reaches into a mans heart and soul.

  84. M.... M....

    My favorite Boz!

  88. T.... K....

Got to see Boz at the Memorial Auditorium in Sacramento Ca the first year he toured with this new LP. He opened for the Guess Who and we listened to about three and bailed! The Boz was FN amazing and we knew he was destined for a LONG successful Career of great songs to come! Saw him in 2018 at the end of his tour and smiled through the entire concert. BOught the Tee Shirt and still wear it on special occasions!

  89. G.... M....

If you guys get a chance, please check out 1st508th Airborne site, only if you like puppies :)

  90. T.... H....

Duane's playing was effortless. It was pure emotion. I have never heard any musician of any genre that was on the same level as Duane Allman. I grew up in Macon GA, so I may have some bias, but when the Brothers were "Hittin the Note", Duane would leave the floor. The ABB shows would leave you physically and emotionaly drained. There has never been anything close, and I'm convinced there never will be.

    T.... H....

There's a reason theyre considered the best live band to ever grace a stage. 😁❤️

  91. J.... H....

Saw/listened Boz couple a years ago in Daytona...has not skipped a beat & still full of soul & to still sings from the heart !Ride on above brother Diane & my great sounds continue from Muscle Shoals studios !

  92. z.... k....

I remember the nude photo of Duane on the inside of the album cover. :) Loved the whole album-Make my life shine is also one of my all time favorites

  96. E.... D....

A loooong way from the Lido Shuffle.

    E.... D....

Thats one of the "cookies " he has to feed a large segment of his fans so he can play the other songs he really wants to play.

  97. B.... B....
