Saxon - The Eagle Has Landed Lyrics

Take a giant step for mankind
On a distant lunar sea
As you travel across the universe
Will you take a step, take a step for me
Will you take a step for me

Voyage of an eagle
Blasting to the stars
You take the hopes and dreams of men
To find yourself, to find tranquillity
To find tranquillity

Traveled across the universe
And placed the lonely flag
Out there in isolation
At the final, the final frontier
At the final frontier

The world's in celebration
As we wait for your return
You took a giant leap for mankind
On another, on another world
On another world

Take it easy take it slow
Don't go fast don't let go
The eagle has landed
The eagle has landed
The eagle has landed
The eagle has landed

  61. T.... 1....

I am now 52 years old. I left metal many years ago, finally grew out of the drug scene, raised a family, now at the edge of retirement and this song came out of the shadows of my memory. I have chills right now.

    T.... 1....

    I'm 49 and I'm still listening ;-)

    T.... 1....

No one can leave metal... Deuhhh...!

    T.... 1....

@THX 1138 Good for you, but I don't understand why did you leave metal? Can't we raise our families listening to metal?

    T.... 1....

@Mariusz Wróbel That type of music tapped into an internalized anger that began to surface in my mid teens. I was wayward for a few years at that time and eventually got married and began a family. I found purpose in motherhood which brought me to new perspectives. I suppose I just simply outgrew that genre of music although I still listen to Led Zeppelin on occasion. I picked up drumming along the way and was able to master Song Remains the Same and a few others. Bonzo's rhythms are very satisfying.

    T.... 1....

@THX 1138 I get it, everyone reacts different on things, in my case metal music doesn't disturb in my life and makes my actually more calm and chilled than angry and agressive and that kind of music helps me when I feel depressed but I understand your point of view. Thanks for your reply, I wrote a comment thinking that chances that you will actually read it are pretty slim (it's an old comment), have a good day/night.

  62. T.... 1....

  65. J.... ....

Apparently you have to be born in the 50's to think this crap rocks. About put me to sleep and I'm 40. Avatar has a song with the same title but that's the only thing it shares they actually Rock.

    J.... ....

Jason He's right, Fagatar's version sucks donkey dicks. The mighty Saxon will always be light years beyond that shitty band. LMAO!

    B.... L....

    @Brian Lingenfelter—Like John Travolta said in PULP FICTION.....THAT’S A BOLD STATEMENT ;)

    B.... L....

I actually have to agree with you. And yes , "coolest" is the way to describe it. There may be songs with more instrumental prowess or way more hard driving.....but this one , arguably, is the coolest one.

  77. J.... N....

After all these years... still sounds awesome!!

  78. J.... C....

Pocas veces Saxon ha creado un tema tan intenso y majestuoso. Se podría decir que anda entre lo épico y el progresivo-sinfónico.

    J.... C....

    Perfeita avaliação!

I miss that place it was big part of my youth

    S.... H....

    METAL CHURCH

  80. K.... M....

Main riff sounds like that of Judas Priest's "Victim of Changes". Vocalist also sounds like a mix of Rob Halford and Udo Dirkshneider(Accept). Am I the only one who thinks this? Haha

    K.... M....

hahaha u must listen better , saxon has more POWER in there riffs und da vokalist has more effects.

    K.... M....

just shadow of ..... that from judas is too primitive , and guitar sound is real bull shit ,,,, this one its a master piece , guitar , so heavy , solos cut air , only the singer , for me is too mutch acute , it need a hoter voice sound

    K.... M....

The riff has been copied by many bands
It also reminded me that Pagan Altar copied the riff in "Night Rider" I think was the song.
It's a good riff, and it's used extremely well in this song.
Usually riffs that are copied are the only redeeming parts of the song, and the rest of the song doesn't fit.
Victim of Changes couldn't exist and the riff still perfectly fits this song.
Only a band as wicked as Saxon could pull off something like that.

    K.... M....

Nope. The verse riff is so similar to Victims of Changes. Regardless, both are great songs.

    K.... M....

    You and Beethoven !

  81. S.... H....

Saw them in '83 when I was 19 with Accept at the Country Club in Reseda Ca.. One of the best bands I ever saw live.

    S.... H....

iggy082 Yeah but you've seen the best stuff at the best time.

    S.... H....

i'm so envious of all of you , love all the band you guys listed , must have been a hell of a show for everyone with accept maiden fastway maiden and motorhead

    S.... H....

I also saw them in 83 San Bernardino, ca , with Maiden & Fastway , awesome fuckin show , right on ,

    S.... H....

I watched Saxon(Byford) at the Brixton Academy in December 2001, supporting Judas Priest(Live in London DVD) and Saxon(without Byford)in Portsmouth supporting Ronnie James DIO in October 2002. They were both great performances, Byford of course outshining his old mates. Great act all together, great songs, great albums, great career

    S.... H....

    @William same!

  82. g.... ....

great song. one of the best british metal bands ever!

    g.... ....
