First Savatage album I bought. A masterpiece. Still have the cassette I got at Ames. Yes, Ames department store had a really good music selection. Must have had a metalhead doing the ordering.

PURE METAL masters ... got less attention than QUEENSRYCHE...which i love them ..but went more commercial than savatage later... cant get savatage on the radio back then ...hyeadbangers ball or metal shop ...Z ROCK out of gainesville TX was killer first few yrs ...then sold out... and later became the edge. hall of the mountain king is a classic metal masterpiece . heavy shit

Dont know man, in my metalhead company everybody knows about savatage and in fact they are the pure heavy metal sound everyone who is fan of Priest, Maiden knows about Savatage

Compared to other metal bands Savatage is extremely underrated

In the metal community i'd say no. They have toured with all the big ones, have been headliners on all big festivals and stuff. But they never went mainstream like maiden, metallica or something like that. They would have deserved that, but on the other hand i m glad there are still amazing bands not exploited to the max.
