When I came Tampa after high school to be a rockstar, the first live show I saw was Savatage and Nasty Savage at the Fairgrounds Expo Hall.
NS was typically brutal, but I remember Savatage totally kicking my 19 year old ass around the room. They had just released "Power of the Night," and it was arguably their peak.
When I joined the Army a few years later I took "Hall of the Mountain King" and "Power of the Night" with me to basic, bragging them up to everyone.
I probably saw them another four or five times before Criss died at Livestock4. I was there, watching Saigon Kick and Anthrax the night he died.
During a scheduled appearance the following night on 98Rock, my band Teer and I eulogized Criss and shared Savatage memories, instead of pimping our song.
They were the best band ever from Tampa, and he was an elite guitarist.

Wish music like this would make a come back. Amazing

@Taylan Şahin It's about a man who sells drugs on the street and his name is "DT Jesus" or "Down Town Jesus" or at least that's what the locals called him because he sold people their favorite drugs, so hence the "Jesus" part of his name, as if he was some sort of savior. Then one day, he decided to buy a cheap guitar and found out he was really good at playing it. Then, he formed a band and now everyone called him Jesus and everyone loved his music so they would shout, "Jesus saves!" There yah go. :)

I am similar to what Dt. Jesus was because he started out as a drug dealer. And he turned into a ROCKSTAR . But before i turned into a heavy metal Head i was a thug on the streets. And from there i got into the heavy metal life but after years passed by and i started being in a band . My life started getting messed up i was the one that ended up falling in the negative cracks of life. So i stopped beleiving in myself and ended up in the wrong paths as a METALHEAD

Actually, this is where Paul O'Niel started to really influence the bands direction and if you listen to the album you can see it's progression of thought and how it parallels to Jesus Christ and the Christian God. In fact, all their albums later, including TSO have these same VERY STRONG parallels. This song was the second song on the album and was used to build up the theme of God throughout. Especially tracks like St Patrick's, Somewhere in Time and Believe.

I hate it when most people think that being a Heavy Metal Head or getting to be a HEAVY METAL ROCKSTAR is easy. Their 100% WRONG on that. It takes Guts, Talent and a Positive Attitude. It's not Easy At All. I became a Metal Head because i inherited from my dad. Who used to play in a band in the early 80's but because because of his negativity he didn't make it through the hard test. And eventually negative rough life comes next.

Criss had just left my house and was on his way back to the bubba live stock when he was taken from us by that ass driving drunk. That;s me (the girl) in the beginging of the video and my ol'man riding his bike. We had a fricking awesome time making this video.

Criss Oliva was already one of the best guitarist in the business at this time and he was still getting better, imagine where he could be and how he could play today if that motherfucking drunk didn't take his life?
