Sarah McLachlan - Steaming Lyrics
You're always waiting on the tide
It's time you decide
I've walked down long roads that seem to have no end at all
You never wanted time to end
To let my life offend
Hold on tight, hold on fast
This ain't the kind that always lasts
If you want me to go just ask me to go, I'll go
All the way my love, over the hills and right on through you
Run away my love, over the hills and right on through you
Over the hills and right on through you
Lying awake in these restless dreams
Life's never what it seems
I've always tried to read your eyes
To get inside that scornful mind
This ain't the kind that always lasts
If you want me to go just ask me to go, I'll go
All the way my love, over the hills and right on through you
Run away my love, over the hills and right on through you
Over the hills and right on through you
I was with you on that pallet steaming
Spinning 'round in circles dreaming
I was with you on that pallet steaming
Running 'round in circles screaming...
All the way my love, over the hills and right on through you...
Run away my love, over the hills and right on through
All the way my love, over the hills and right on through you...
Run away my love, over the hills and right on through

Sarah McLachlan Steaming Comments
Sarah, my favorite female voice and my love...
She is still Steaming from being smoking hot :)
What time signature is this in?
This video always reminded me of the scene of "Blue Velvet" in which Isabella Rossellini sings in the bar.
The gift of a wheel man or should I say the gift of due south everybody!!! Thanks vecchio and Benton long may you live xxxx
My sister and I loved due south, heard many great songs on that fantastic tv series.
i was 16, the club was Curfew in Austin, TX..."As The End Draws Near" had enraptured us....this song, and Vox (to a greater extent, just always loved this)..so many nights of my teenage years spent dancing my emotions out to this...thanks, sarah....you made a huge impact on my life
wow, this is very rare!
Damn, I love these early videos! Surprised I've never seen them before. Incredible to think this was the late 80s! Man. I wish I could go back in time. Sarah lost me after Surfacing, but I loved the earlier stuff.
Such a great song...such a bad video lol
If my memory serves me well this song was in a relative Gm.
An I once thought Drawn to The Rhythm was an early Sarah song.
This has got a similar feel to Peter Gabriel's In Your Eyes. I just noticed when I found In Your Eyes that it reminded me of this song. x
I love this song, but there are so many cigarettes in this video
Due South all the way.
I had this on an oldschool VHS comp she did with a bunch of her videos
I LOVE THIS SONG !!!
oir este cd es un placer para mi, que voz mas hermosa sarah.
Great song, and from a brilliant Due South episode.
One of my favorite songs - but this music video is full of WTF.
Oh yes...that intriguing game of checkers !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?
I LOVE This Song!, I like the video 'stage set/theme', but really despise the 'special effect' done to Sarah's face by some geek producer! NOT A GOOD EDIT NOR CHOICE! That being, whomever it was, should be denied working in film/theatre for life! But, conversely, Sarah's dress/make-up were great! So, I've mixed feelings on the video, but know what it is about the song that has always captured my heart. Perhaps, maybe, Sarah was with someone special along the coast of Maine in early summertime? If so, she nailed it...
This video condones relationships between older women and younger men but denigrates relationships between older men and younger women. Sarah M. has a well trained voice but this video caters to Germaine Greer feministic misandry. Pity.
good observation. great song nonetheless.
plus I don't mind banging a milf.
I miss just enjoying music and not caring about politics. Then I had to hear artists voice their stupid opinions.
To TurboCMinusMinus: FY
you bitter huh... chill man, this aint about you
this was taken the last year of the 80s ! .... in 1989 .... her very first album at age 19 with Arista Records !
This is actually the inferior remix of the original which was recorded by Nettwerk in 1987 when she was 19 (if that matters) and released in 1988. Not trolling you, Christopher. Just setting the record straight.
Oh my. Not only does Sarah have no bad songs at all, she was (and is, mind you) absolutely beautiful.
+Alexander Brown I agree. You take the entire catalogue and cover them with nothing more than a six string guitar and as long as you have the sheet music, you will able to learn the most interesting form of classical/celtic music.
Beautiful, love it, love her, & she has not aged a day!!
The folk has their own magic!!
God I love this woman. Such Beauty, such Talent.
One of my favourite songs. Remember hearing it on Due South in the 90's and took me years to find out who sang it and what the song was called.
Craig Davis Me too! A bar scene or something, took me soo long to find out who's beautiful voice this was! ;)
@LB back in the 90s, not many folks had the internet or smartphones, let alone Shazam.
90's-tastic, even though it wasn't technically the 90's yet!
I think it's timeless. Possibly because I have listened to it through a few decades ;0) I do like the song alone best.
Wow, thanks for uploading these old videos. I discovered your music as soon as Fumbling was released and quickly got your back catalogue, but never saw these. I am really enjoying Shine On, thank you.
My loses are my own fault...God forgive me.
1:58 - 2:03. Shivers every time.
Due south
Jesus, I am in love with Sarah.
Get the whole record, it's lovely.
This has always been one of my faves too. I don't think many people outside of Canada knew who she was before Possession. No clue why, her label i guess? Amazing stuff, esp when you think of what was on the radio in '89! This is 80s music people, not just the stuff everyone thinks was. :)
reminds me on Kate Bush Wuthering Heights.
Kate Bush was an early influence for her. In fact you can hear the influence throughout the first album, which this is from. Good catch!
I had to search through 15 videos and endure Google before finally stumbling upon this. I knew this video 'homage' to Isabella Rossellini in Blue Velvet existed. I'm not mad!
Awesome I love it
Never really understood the "smoldering" eyes thing before , now i do
she doesn't
i completely agree with you ;)
Makes me miss Due South... I never knew when I watched the show, just how much of an impression the music was making
OMG this lady doesn't age!!!!
1-28-2012. It's no bore. Sarah's 44. Happy Birthday, Sarah.
@MagnetoMasterOfEvil yes.but that whole cd(touch) is amazing.
It's the best she's ever looked. Reminds me of Sean Young.
Isn't that Gerard from Due South?
Due. South. Forever.
What a great song, and the combination of images in the video made a lot of sense!
Beautiful.
One of my favourite SM songs... So *special* ♥
i discovered this song of hers about 3 years ago,which-bearing in mind we're in 2011-means i'd lost about 19 years of one of the most amazing songs ever.
of course...i think i've made up since.i must have heard it a million times so far.
this was the song that introduced me to sarah. cutting back in 89.
5,445 views? This song is underrated.
id love to know what the ONLY person who gave this a thumbs down was thinking.........probably an ndubz fan or dappy 'the twat in the hat' himself!!
well said, definately one of her best and best played LOUD!!
awesome artist
@goddessalert Lolz who knows! I can listen to this song and watch the video all day long and never get bored, same goes for Sarah's other songs ... :D
@punya09 had to be accidental. I can't believe it either
Someone pressed dislike????? Unbelievable!
