Samantha Fish - Nearing Home Lyrics

So tell me where I'm going
'Cause I thought I was nearing home
Take back all that's given
And leave me off where I belong
Belong to the Lord, I wonder
But I can't help to wonder where He's gone
I'm waiting for a rain, a thunder
But under every sun it's going down

Lead me from this evening
But I've no strength to carry on
Further I've fallen
In the midst of standing tall
Taller than the highest mountain
Leaning on the glory of despair
And praying for great revival
I'm kneeling on the wrong side of the stairs

So hear me what I'm saying
'Cause I can't listen anymore
Sure, it says I've been making
[?]
All alone I longed for shelter
A battle undefeated I give in
Try to get some mighty river
Losing to the darkness [?]
So, tell me where I'm going
'Cause I thought I was nearing home

I love Samantha in the Power Trio, and Wild Heart is a fantastic album. But this album is really showing Samantha's range. Soft Sam is really a beautiful thing.
    Love the girl.

just when I thought her vocals leaned towards the Franklin/Benatar region, in comes this Emmylou Harris inspired number. Beautiful!

The stairs are tall, between the railing and the wall, reckon I’ll go on unless a fall is imminent.

I'm pretty sure she is singing imminent not eminent. Not to nit-pick, but it trips my mind when I read that sentence. Eminent is a famous person or high in station, rank, or repute; prominent. Imminent is about to happen or likely to occur at any moment; impending.

I normally don't do this, but it just kicks the brain cells and I can't read past it.

Wayne Stewart, I’ve seen the lightning, standing in the rain.
