Saigon - Oh Yeah (Our Babies) Lyrics

[LeAlan Jones]
"I remember one time I was over at my Auntie house
spending the night. And we playin' Super Nintendo.
I hear this lady: 'Yo, I heard you been looking for me, nigga'
Then she just -- boom-boom-boom-boom-boom!
She let off about eight shots. Then I heard the other gun fire off
and we were just still there playing there, like nothin' happened.
And then Vietnam, them people came back crazy. I (live) in Vietnam
So what you think I'ma be if I live in it and they just went and visited?"

[Saigon]
Suckers could not survive without philoso-phy
When somebody dies, you see why I'm not suprised?
Had a plot to rise since I looked in the doctor's eyes
Since I started drinkin milk through what's homogenized
I would strive with or without a pops to provide
Moms still cries 'cause she fell for a crock of lies
I try to teach her to fight her fears
I try to teach her to wipe her tears
Don't worry, shit gon' be aight this year
I'm at the top of my game, just watch for my name
Better off poppin my brain than poppin my chain (dang!)
I claim king without droppin a thing
When they ask if I'm the best, I reminisce of the bing and think...

[LeAlan Jones]
When I was ten, I seen my first automatic weapon
A Glock Nine -- two clips.

[Lloyd Newman]
I seen all kinds of guns -- .44, .22, (Techs!) Techs. I saw rifles.

[Jones:] Mac 10, Mac 11.
[Newman:] Living around here. You hear shooting all the time.

[Saigon]
Damn..
The drama's pitiful, lil' niggaz is homicid-ical
Couple meals ago, shorty was eatin through his umbilical
Now he feels he unkillable, shit is all amazing
The wrong altercation'll leave his ass with a long abrasion
I try to make my life de-focal through rhymes
These niggaz do vocal booth crimes, I shot niggaz multiple times
You sold a few dimes, but when you rappin, you the crack king
I sold it to whites when you thought it was just a black thing
I'm filled with this realness, rappers happen to lack it
I'm flabbergasted you got a platinum plaque for that wack shit
All the real gangstas, they on their way to bein dead or in jail
They don't make records to sell

[Lloyd Newman]
I asked my father, Chill, what his best memories of my mother are.

['Chill']
Me and her have fun, putting our feet in the water together
We were sober then... but once we started gettin high..
Them memories gone... They gone.

[Newman:] Why are you drinking?
[Chill:] I don't understand why I'm drinking.
[Newman:] Do you think you're gonna stop?
[Chill:] Yeah, I'm going to rehab, and take care of myself.
[Newman:] What do you drink?
[Chill:] I drink about two or three pints of wine a day.
But it ain't helping me, ain't doin nothin' but killing me.
Don't people understand it's destroying you?
[Newman:] If it's destroying you, why do you still drink?
Do you think you've been a good father?
[Chill:] Yes, I have, to the best capability I could.
[Newman:] I have no further questions.

[Saigon]

  28. D.... P....

    Real rap, real talk!

  29. T.... S....

First song from Saigon I've ever heard. If the rest of his songs are half as good as this one, I'm gonna have to rearrange my top 10

  38. l.... j....

the interview with his father at the end puts this song on another level, anybody know the singer?

  39. O.... D....

One of his best best best songs ever. Much love & respect.

  40. J.... W....

Please dont compare living in ANY US city to Vietnam during the war. I think thats an insult to the Vietnamese people and the soldiers (although they did many horrible things). Vietnam was WAY WAY WAY worse than anything people in the US have experienced. Where is the agent orange, napalm, airstrikes, burning alive, raping ect ect and I can go on.

I sympathize with the boy but he is still off with his comparison.

  41. j.... ....

this song is insane, wow...just wow, saigon is one of the best !! <3 RESPECT FROM NORWAY !

  42. m.... c....

Saigon went in on this one. Love the video, love the song. One!

  43. A.... N....

Good song. Are those interviews real or what? If so id like to see them. Very powerful and vivid

  44. M.... R....

    Vietnam

  45. i.... D....

This song deserves more views. Sick song.

  46. t.... ....

i agree, great intro and great song, but "the hood" is not comparable to vietnam. not even close. where i'm from has the highest murder rate in the U.S and its not even close to what some experienced during that war. listen to uncommon valor-jedi mind tricks. that song is chilling... this is still a great song not hating

  47. d.... t....

    HAHAHAHAHA

  48. c.... ....

im also flabbergasted that other rappers got the platinum plaque for their wack shit

  49. C.... H....

Damn Radio One and BET really need to pump this cat, LOUD!!

  50. c.... ....

    Saigon is the TRUTH!

  51. j.... ....

damn this song iss soo good

  52. j.... ....

and jay z is garbage anyway, so why u hatin ?

  53. j.... ....

fuck you, saigon got hes own flow idiot

  54. j.... ....

haha man , why even compare them ? sagion is waaayyy better that jay z u cant compare them cuz saigon is a long way out of jay z leauge

  55. j.... ....

wrod man, awesome song, one of my favouritt songs from saigon :)

  56. j.... ....

ofc he hes, he owns him so much, he goes much much harder, jay z aint nuthin. agree with you man, hip hop is about lyrcism and poetry and flow, not swag.... ;) sad the game is as it is today

  57. d.... ....

You'll get over it. Takes time.

  58. J.... M....

He has a Texas Longhorn hoodie on!! automatically my favorite!... jk, He was the best anyway (:

  59. D.... ....

That statement is fucking preposterous, I'm a Saigon fan too, but he will never make an album better than Reasonable Doubt and Jay Z has countless classics.

  60. R.... a....

Shit was all the way fire.Jammin it now anticipating part 2 and my first big pay day in a year.

  61. N.... E....

  63. m.... ....

CHECK OUT -----------> Marc Divine - Out There (official video) swedish hip hop!!!

  64. D.... C....

I swear the background singing is Danny Boy.

But, this is one of the realest songs I've ever heard.

  65. K.... S....

(*WISHFUL THINKING*) .. But If I ever HIT THE LOTTO or ever come into some MONEY ... I would DEFINITELY break SAIGON off with some as APPRECIATION for his MUSIC

  66. S.... L....

    Who is Jay Z ?

  67. D.... W....

    my mind just got blown

  71. D.... R....

Besides the great rhymes Saigon is spitting, SHOUT TO SAIGON FOR WEARING THE UT LONGHORN IN THE VIDEO! AUSTIN, TEXAS PLEASE STAND UP!

  72. i.... ....

The dramas pitiful, little niggas in homicidical, couple meals ago shorty was eatin' through his umbilical, now he feel he un-killable, shit is all amazing, the wrong altercation will leave his ass with a long abrasion... Still remember the first time I heard them bars. DAMN.

  73. S.... ....

im sorry...the intro with the little kid talking about "living in vietnam" has to be one of the most chilling and brilliant intros I have EVER heard in a song. Also the short interludes(in replacement of a hook)of the boy telling his life story is fucking amazing! I rarely hear a song that I fall in love with within a few seconds of hearing it(Nas' One Mic comes to mind) but this song is on that list. Never new Saigon was this good. Very impressive song

  74. J.... $....

    this is fucking incredible

  75. m.... ....

I've never seen a talented rapper who's so caring and so mature. He's awesome and very rare indeed!.

  76. k.... ....

Like if you find yourself sitting here repeatedly clicking the like button until you get carpel tunnel syndrome after listening to this song.

  77. s.... ....

Nice to see everyone aint stuck on benny banks , sneakbo shit atm !! Bless BS3 Bristol !

  78. u.... ....

Saigon is better than ANY rapper that's currently making "music" for the top 100. He knows what's up and he ain't afraid to tell others the truth.

  79. s.... ....

    amazing....

  80. t.... ....

Thank you for making this song..

  81. K.... Y....

''they don't make record to sell''

  82. K.... B....

Saigon...one of the realest rappers alive, NO bubble gum bull!!! Check out my song "Rain" which talks about real life pain and struggle....

  83. D.... C....

ofcourse, but it's impossible that every rapper be so well rated, but nowdays rated rappers are nothing, thats why I listen to this rappers who are underrated, because thay still spitt real stuff.. ;)

  84. R.... 2....

Saigon... The Best Rapper about today... Real Music!

  85. s.... 1....

THIS SHIT SO HARD!!!!! DA REALISHIT I HEARD IN YEARS.....

  86. i.... ....

Keeping it real... real life experiences on the mic.. will always reign over the fakes and the lies!

  87. j.... ....

Strange that you compare him to Jay-Z.
What could be the reason for him to wear that Texas sweatshirt?

  88. P.... C....

His voice is SLIGHTLY like Jay Z's but this man definitely has his own flow, which is smoother and more complex.

  89. M.... -....

    much more better !

  90. S.... B....

@SAIGONthayardfathe please can you upload the instrumental version !!!!!!!! please ! beat is so fresh

  91. S.... B....

    who is jay z ? :p

  92. S.... B....

CAN SOMEBODY MAKE A INSTRUMENTAL VERSION OF THIS!!!! BEAT IS SO ILLLLL!
