The vibe of this entire album is dark (given the painful background) but beautiful, lyrically appropriate for the times and definitely a groove that has been missing in mainstream. I have been a fan since say one..from his days with Toni Tony Tone, as part of the groundbreaking trio Lucy Pearl, and now as this underrated and unsung solo phenomenon. He has always been on my playlist- his soundtrack contributions are rhythmic journeys of love and desire, whereas his solo efforts can be laden with controversy and committment to living your best love (yeah I meant that). Put him in the vocal and production category with Stokely, Rahsaan Patterson, and Kenny Latimore. Now THAT is a supergroup for the Musical Gods.
