Ross, Diana - Misery Makes Its Home In My Heart Lyrics

The door to my heart was open
Open wide much wider than wide
(I said the door was open)
And I had been praying and hoping
That your love would come walking inside

I should have locked my heart
I should have thrown away the key
Instead I let you walk on through
I thought your love was true
But it was misery

Ooh, heartaches, heartbreaks
That's all I've known
Misery makes my heart its home

(I said the door was open, it was wide open)
My heart had room inside
And to fill it with love I was willing
I wanted it to be occupied
By a love that was strong and fulfilling

I should have shut you out
Detained you with a strong defence
Instead my heart gave shelter to
A love I felt was true
In every sense
Don't you know that

Heartaches, heartbreaks
That's all I've known
Misery makes my heart its home

(My heart had room inside now, it had room inside)
Now I've cried a river
No it's more like a sea
Tears flow by the thousand
Since my heart is housing this misery
Misery

Let me tell you about
Heartaches, heartbreaks
That's all I've known
Misery makes my heart its home

Heartaches, heartbreaks
That's all I've known
Misery makes my heart its home

Heartbreaks
That's all I've known
Misery makes my heart its home

No one mentions that they don't sing the title right. They sing "Misery Makes My Heart It's Home", not "misery makes its home in my heart". Regards the backing vocals on this. The Andantes sang on nearly ALL Detroit recorded songs! I think someone wrote it down wrong when publishing it.
Personally I am sure Mary Wilson is on there in some form. Maybe Flo' s voice would have over powered Diane's voice. By the way it came out on the flip of "Love Child" in 1968 in Holland ( https://www.discogs.com/The-Supremes-Love-Child/release/2210330 )

This is not the Adantes. This is definately the Supremes. Mary Wilson's voice sticks out!!!!

Diana Ross and the Andantes. Mary and Cindy did not sing on this.

Who knows anymore who sang on what song?  Legally whoever owns the group name can hire whoever they want to sing on a song.  It really is sad that there is no way to really know who is singing on a song.  We can speculate but we can never really  know for sure. I wish I had never heard of any of the Andantes.  And then there are the superficial listeners of music who say "Just enjoy the music and don't worry about who is singing." I am a serious music lover and I want to know who is singing as well as playing in the band.

    It’s Mary and Marlene Barrow

I wonder if Smokey wrote this for Mary Wells. It has that "calypso" beat she made popular.

One of their best songs from that era/line-up . Fabulous!
