Ronnie Milsap - I'm Playing For You Lyrics

The show is over, the footlights are dim
The roar of the crowd is faded again
It's just me and my eighty-eight ivory friend
Playing for you.

Maybe you've heard me on the radio
Maybe he was with you and holding you close
I can't help but wonder if somehow you know
I'm playing for you.

You always said, someday I'd make it
Well, I made it but it cost me you
Now every night there's part of all
The dreams we had in every song that I do.

Maybe you've heard me on the radio
Maybe he was with you and holding you close
I can't help but wonder if somehow you know
I'm playing for you.

The show is over, the stage is bare
The crowd is gone now and they're folding the chairs
But I'll keep singing my heart out, what else can I do
I'm playing for you.

I'm playing for you.
I'm playing for you.
I'm playing for you.
I'm playing for you...

There's no one like Ronnie....another beautiful song done by an incredible talent <3

  3. S.... ....

The theme of this song is a singer striving to gain fame, fortune, and popularity; he did so, but at the (probable) expense of his marriage, so now he sings a new song asking for one more chance. Moral of the story: family & marriage are more important than the world's splendors, for what does one man gain when he loses his soul (and the things that are truly important) for everything else? Side note: did Ronnie & Joyce ever separate? I know Charlie and Margaret Ann Rich did once. Just curious.

    I could

One of the many great Milsap tunes that should've been a hit but never got played. Way better than anything on the charts today and sadly obscure.
