Rolling Stones, The - 2000 Man Lyrics
Well, my name is a number
A piece of plastic film
And I'm growin' funny flowers
In my little window sill
Dont you know I'm a 2,000 man
Well my wife still respects me
I really misused her
I am having an affair
With the Random computer
Don't you know I'm a 2,000 man
And my kids, they just don't understand me at all
Oh daddy, proud of your planet
Oh mummy, proud of your sun
Oh daddy, proud of your planet
Oh mummy. proud of your sun
Like it did when you were young
Or do you come down crashin'
Seeing all the things you'd done
All was a big put on
Oh daddy, proud of your planet
Oh mummy. proud of your sun
Oh daddy, proud of your planet
Oh mummy. proud of your sun
Oh daddy, proud of your planet
Oh mummy. proud of your sun
Oh daddy, proud of your planet
Oh mummy. proud of your sun
And you know who's the 2000 man
And your kids they just won't understand you at all

Rolling Stones, The 2000 Man Comments
Always thought Ace wrote this song . Wow .
Having bought the Kiss "Dynasty" album when it came out I always wanted the original version of this song and 40 years later I finally got around to it.
Wow ace did a great job on the kiss cover
Hermosa cajita musical 😍.. Como she is like a Raimbow
Kiss was Mutch better.
HAIL SATAH MUHFUKAH!
Ace sent me , from the year nineteen hundred seventy and nine
It's 2am, lying on my couch, headphones on and blasting this tune...lyrics SO fu#@in prophetic, bruh. Allow me to explain... To me , the 2000 man is actually an aging millennial or Gen Z, so it's actually like the year 2050...he exists only as a number on a plastic piece of film (credit card, online shopping) ....a dude that legally grows "funny flowers" on his window sill (cannabis garden) ...my wife still respects me (gender politics) ... but having an affair with a computer (Still cheats on the internet)...my kids don't understand me (generation Mars, hyper-environmentalists) ... Notice how the music gets TOTALLY amped as his kids step into the picture...the REAL kicker,
as we're introduced to Generation Green/ Mars...
Generation Green/Mars comes crashing into the song with a mocking mantra: "Daddy, proud of your planet?" "Mommy, proud of your son?". Notice how fathers are shamed for the planet and mothers for their male children.
@Big Falcon Rocket wow dude, that is an awesome take on the song 0.0
Frehley
Jesus I'm glad Ace did something with this shit.
I think it's a matter of perspective and subjectivity. I had never heard the original version of this song, so my perspective is Kiss-based. I'm not really a Stones fan, more of a Kiss/Zeppelin guy, but that's not to diss The Stones. But I can also see Stones fans preferring the original. It kinda matters which one you come across first.
amazing song and video.....i originally likes ace's version better.....when i never knew the song.i still think kiss did an amazing job....but like this version better.
+john scialfa
,
It's amazing, as it's still the same tune/melody, but somehow Ace's/Kiss' version is better.
P.S. I first heard the Stones' version, then Kiss' version, at first I didn't think much of the Kiss version (as it sounded too different), then I stopped comparing and heard it for what it was, then it grew on me, an now I prefer Kiss' version.
EIN LIEBLINGSSONG VON MIR😇😈😂
Pito de Cabra
crazy. i was born in 2000 and addicted to the internet (having an affair with my computer)
Oh mummy proud of your "sun" of "son" ?
Yall should listen the the kiss version its much better
Araki should make this a stand
No i am 2020 Man
Ace's version is actually better
Who the heck is "ace"?

SPECTACULAR DRUMS
I remember listening to this when I was like 7!
Love the snoring at the end of Another Land. So many times I'd fade out and doze off at this point.
When did they start being influenced by Alisteir Crowley?
intro reminds me of intro to Solsbury Hill
- Vocals: Mick Jagger
- Bass: Bill Wyman
- Guitars: Keith Richards
- Drums: Charlie Watts
- Organ: Brian Jones
Brian also played acoustic guitar on this track, but that's Keith on the main riff.
kiss version S2
that sounds like shit! ace did a way better job!
kiss made this 2000 times better !!!!
Funny how no one talks about the weird drum beat. It is really unusual and odd.
“They’ll never catch me....cause I’m innocent!”
2000 man was their song to me.
They’ll never catch me man. Cause I’m fucking innocent.
Kiss way better
APPLEJACK DROVE
This is the first time I've ever heard this (the original) version of the song, and holy shit, what a difference it was from Ace's version. Wow, psychedelic, man.
whow, I do love these psychedelic stones songs and the wonderful clip. when I heard it first time I thought that it embraced a message exactly for me - well I forgot what that message was since I was really stoned ...
Herbert Lüthe Another classic, euphoric revellation, briefly enjoyed by ANOTHER stoner, Hah !
No comments about Charlie's great drumming?
Here's one. He's incredible.
BRIAN JONES plays the Acoustic Guitar.
Stones the greatest rock band of all time ... !!! And I have said ... !!!
Absolutely fantastic
Great video, great song
one of the best songs of the stones

Ace's version is way better
bravo et merci a celui qui a mis les paroles!!!! loves and peaces!!!
Ace Frehley and Kiss did it better. MUCH better.
Lyrics more true today than in 1967....
They'll never catch me, man. 'Cause I'm fuckin' innocent.
cool...tho yah as most stated...Ace, easily the most talented member of KISS ever (compare solo albums for starters) took this to another level
Brant Bjork did a cool version on Saved by magic.
Really ?
@Rockin RobbeeYes, right here. It's hidden after Arcade eyes. https://youtu.be/Z-OmDmGJcZw
One of the great british Song
Thank God for Ace
You can always tell when Mick gets down. His voice becomes raw and raspy. I love it ❤️🎸
Yes probably the most underrated rolling stone song probably one of my favorites why don't they play on the radio don't understand
Its one of the best Kiss and Ace Frehley songs ever! ; )
Special version & video - !!!
Is this about the generation gap of the new millenium, I wonder?
I have an affair with a random computer - better than Nostradamus
Check out Child of the Moon!! By the Stones!! Probably wrote it for this album but it didn’t make it! It was the B side for Jumping Jack Flash that came out right after this album!
Is it better than Sgt Pepper I’m not sure.....is it more interesting most definitely
Ace's version is better.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
For a 52-year-old song this is prophetic.
Kiss could never had written this in 2000 years
Frank Sinatra couldn't have written "My Way" in 4,000 years.
This in my opinion is better than kiss version
Wooow!Hey! Am I alone who always thinking its a song of KISS?!? ;P ~ ;)
Omg first time I've ever heard this version it's still a good song but I'm going back to listening to kiss
This reminds me of something The Kinks would do.
Ace/KISS version I must say is better..especially the unplugged version.
once written, there is allways the Chance to make it better. Most importend is, that it was written at all. Only then you can make Things better or worse...
Sorry, not even close. Brian & Keith together weaving their guitars together were nothing short of incredible.
aces version rocks
this
does not
I guess they never played this one live.
A hugely underrated song. It’s really fantastic. Long a favorite of mine.
The whole album has been underrated, did they ever played this live? Not as I know.
Kiss did it better.
KISS VERSION 10X BETTER AND HEAVIER!...THATS WHAT ITS ALL ABOUT!!...THE REAL SHIT!!...ACE RULEZZZ!!!
fugaZ...Descalzzza sintiendo el frìo compasss ivo del Pizzo...
Solo puedo pensar en pizzas..
Porjemplo..
Ad+!!
Kiss version better
BRIAN JONES INSOSTITUIBILE
emozionante e scoppiettante
“They’ll never catch me man, cuz I’m fuckin innocent.”
Lovin' the videos for the songs on "Satanic Majesties", using mostly elements of the cover art from the album. It's what they would have probably done had videos and the technology to make them existed in 1967.
Good point
This is simple frame-by-frame animation and text, this would definitely be possible in 1967, just harder.
They really were trying to be the beatles. Ace frehleys version rocked.
Predicted the Internet.
I think Ace's version is better! Just me?
Totally other styles and totally other times. It's too hard for me to compare it, I love both versions. :x
I agree 100%
Its kinda like playing Mozart on a harmonica but yo can tap your foot to it
Yeah, I think just you and a couple of others.
The Stones version every day of the week for me
It’s a great track, Ace version is not in the same league
Diamond in the rough until Ace found it, then it became a gem!
whats not true is my wife used me and was a 100% whore rippes me off and makes out like a bandit
whats the strangest thing is this all came true
Kiss does this song better
Did this song predict the future?!
"Cuando escuch🎤s no hay nada que decir."Ana.R.Quista de Protocolar.
KISS did it better. This actually makes my ears bleed.
fred Fairchild...lol I agree, Kiss basically own this song like Michael Jackson owned who's loving you by Smokey Robinson
ace frehley la canta mejor
An underrated Stones gem.
I did not write this.
Brian Jones is not playing sitar. or they've already destroyed his mind with psychotropics.
having an affair with a random computer. who is this genius? I hear Richards bitchiness, but this is Brian Jones, who wanted the sexiest tart.
Michael jagger. Mick.
Funny I love the stones even more because of Kiss..
D.O.S 1 Y 2 WAS HERE
D.O.S. wasap here
My favorite Stones song. I thought that it would have been a great hit again in 2000, but everyone missed it
