Roger Miller - My Elusive Dreams Lyrics
You followed me to Texas you followed me to Utah
We didn't find it there so we moved on
Then you went with me to Alabam things look good in Birmingham
We didn't find it there so we moved on
I know you're tired of following my elusive dreams and schemes
You had my child in Memphis then I heard of work in Nashville
But we didn't find it there so we moved on
To a small farm in Nebraska to a gold mine in Alaska
We didn't find it there so we moved on
Now we've left Alaska because there was no gold mine
This time only two of us moved on
Now all we have is each other and a little mem'ry to cling to
And still you won't let me go on alone
I know you're tired of following...

Roger Miller My Elusive Dreams Comments
Very sensitive and soulfully done .
His 1986 re recording was great as well. Even better.
GOD---He is fantastic.
From a mad keen 74yo Aussie fan.
He Nailed This Song !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
best version of this song I have heard. very soulful, like only Roger Miller could do.
An extremely talented performer. His records were always a bit special. Sadly missed
I saw him in Sydney in 1969. He was awesome and had a wicked sense of humour--RIP Roger Miller--we miss you.
Great stuff..thanx for sharing
Love his old ballads.
Loved Rogers version.
Roger Millers Version ist the most beautiful.
Others Versions like Tom Jones' or Tammy Wynette's are also great.
But Roger put Heart and Soul in the song.
Wow, what an amazing artist he was!
Alfred Markus Hechtl charlie rich does a great version too
Beautiful song, by such an amazing wordsmith!
IT DON,T GET ANY MORE SOULFUL THAN THIS
Hey '49! THANKS for posting this, so much! I have this on LP (original album artwork, this is the alt, one-same album, of course) and have been looking for Roger's version on here-its the very BEST solo version, IMHO, hands down. Putting together a rather difficult medley around this song (to perform live myself, not DJ-style), so my bouncing back and forth to this was crucial. A few other Roger Miller (HUGE fan, if ya can't tell!) tunes in it, too i.e. "South" and "Tomrw Night in Baltimore"...cheers!!!
Thanks for the listen and the comments!
Roger Miller had some great songs and I love most of them. Thanks Brent, have a great new Week.
Sure is cool to hear Roger sing this classic! Thanks for posting!
Thanks Jack!
