Rod Stewart - Handbags And Gladrags Lyrics

Ever seen a blind man cross the road
trying to make the other side
Ever seen a young girl growing old
trying to make herself a bride

So what becomes of you my love
When they have finally stripped you of
The handbags and the gladrags
That your Grandad had to sweat so you could buy
Baby

Once I was a young man
and all I thought I had to do was smile
You are still a young girl
and you bought everything in style
Listen
But once you think you're in you're out
'cause you don't mean a single thing without
the handbags and the gladrags
that your Grandad had to sweat so you could buy

Sing a song of six-pence for your sake
And take a bottle full of rye
Four and twenty blackbirds in a cake
And bake them all in a pie

They told me you missed school today
So what I suggest you just throw them all away
the handbags and the gladrags
that your poor old Granddad had to sweat to buy

They told me you missed school today
So I suggest you just throw them all away
the handbags and the gladrags
that your poor old Granddad had to sweat to buy ya

  69. l.... ....

in style, b/c i was, & am, in spite of what hap'd... but i loved this MELODY... you mean all these 'magnetic -typos,' aren't a theft, of the 'real thing(s)', ???, but yet thinkin' they can carry it, by leaving the real thing(s) be-HIND, AS USUAL ???? CUZ, that's what REALLY HAP'D, sadly, on alll fronts... it WASN'T ANY OF MY 4 'Grand-Dad's,' but, a whole world, that fell in the wells, of non-function... little did any of us KNOW.♡🌏 But we do, NOW... cup-cakes...♡🤗🌏

If film is something you’re interested in, Just keep making videos. My first YT channel serves as a diary of my progress and it’s interesting to look back on it. But I found that making music videos was the way to go because with every video you learn something new and you grow quite quickly as each one is a little 3 minute film.
So just keep making new vids.
Maybe take requests. Ask people for suggestions. That way you’ll be pushed beyond your comfort zone.
If you’re interested, I just thought of a song I’d love to see someone make a video for. It’s an eerie and haunting piece of music by a guy called Bill Frisell.
Let me know if you’re interested and I’ll link it.

This was a very nice video. You have some solid ideas and your editing is pretty good. Since you asked for constructive criticism, I will say that the two opening shots would have benefited from you using a tripod. My reasoning is this: the hand-held cam gives the viewers the sense that they are present and looking at the scene (in other words, the subtle motion makes us feel like we are the camera – which is why they use it in slasher films) it gives a sense of immediacy to a scene. Using a tripod would have removed this feeling of being there, thus enhancing the feelings of his isolation.

Just a thought, and provided since you asked. BTW, I really liked the scene where he dropped below the hill. Nicely framed. Keep up the good work.

This video is up there with any professional video. It is just superb. You should be very proud of your work. Thank you!

I was lucky enough in November 2017 to have an opportunity to play this song with Rod Stewart at London’s Piccadilly Circus. Check out the following link for a short behind the scenes video of the occasion - certainly a day I shall never forget! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vrAFzZ2IYcI . Please take the time to check out and subscribe to my channel and also take a look at my new website www.henryfacey.com to stay up to date with all of my original material and my new album which is coming very soon! Thanks Rod, it was a pleasure! HF.

  84. R.... W....

    Rod Stewart Brought Me Here

  85. B.... T....

There is youtube video of Mike d'Abo explaining the history of this song (worth watching!). He says that Ricky Gervais said he chose the song for The Office because it was the saddest song he ever heard. A beautiful song and the piano riff stays in my head for days every time I hear it. These days when I hear the song and think about what it's talking about, I think of the Kardashins.

  86. L.... N....

I met Rod when I played for Cocker we laughed all night and morning

  87. J.... W....
