Robin Trower - Sweet Wine Of Love Lyrics

Let's throw a party, let's invite every body
Let's drop some glasses on the floor
Turn up the noise, have some fun with the neighbour
Let's have them bangin' on the door
We're havin a party, everyone is invited
Welcome to our wedding night
Ring up some friends, and I ask them all over
Let's do this whole thing right

[Chorus:]
Then we'll turn out the lights, when they've all said goodnight
Let the sweet wine of life ever glow
Turn out the lights, when they've all said goodnight
Let the sweet wine of love overflow

Let's sit down in the streets, with a feeling and dealing
Love gonna crowd us, see the light
And a smile at the window, but they know how we're feeling
Welcome to our wedding night

[Chorus:]
Yes, we'll turn out the lights, when they've all said goodnight
Let the sweet wine of life ever glow
Turn out the lights, when they've all said goodnight
Let the sweet wine of love overflow

[Chorus:]
And we'll turn out the lights, when they've all said goodnight
Let the sweet wine of life ever glow
Turn out the lights, when they've all said goodnight
Let the sweet wine of love overflow

Let the sweet wine of love overflow

  37. r.... r....

I am so glad that I was introduced to this great artist back in the 1970's.

  38. g.... d....

DARE EM TO SAY ITS A NEW COUNTRY SONG BY A NEW ARTIST

  39. M.... F....

This song is so life like , I f you just want party and get down.

  40. C.... S....

    Timeless Classic ♡

  41. I.... T....

    Beatiful

  42. O.... ....

What a great number by Trower/Dewar - nothing like the combination of Robin Trower and James Dewar; they fit like a glove. Thank you, ichiropractor; for uploading this!

  43. g.... p....

one of the best, jimmy's voice is amazing, and the tone of the song almost reminds me of a modern day ambient, lounge or contemporary piece. Robin was way ahead of his time in a lot of ways with his playing.

    g.... p....

You're right about that. Nothing pisses me off more than when someone refers to him as a Hendrix copycat. They just don't get it.

  44. g.... d....

    GOOD SONG
SHOULD BE PLAYED ON RADIO AND KIDS GO "COOL"

  45. m.... m....

    Love this song! <3 memories..................................

  46. B.... F....

I'm sometimes accused of living in the past, Thank God !!! Great song after all these years!!

  47. c.... j....

Reg Isidore was Robin's drummer on the first two albums. Like Jimmy, he's gone too. Have always loved this band.....

  48. J.... F....

This one I think was RT's
    (hidden jewl)

  49. E.... R....

Gifted guitar player, makes that thing sing. Blues or rock the man has the skills.

  50. M.... 7....

Beautiful...saw him in Santa Cruz in mid 90's. Great show

  51. S.... J....

I have learned a lot tonight like Robin Trower was not the lead singer!!!  I've been listening to RT forever and a day, but I did not know that!!  I guess that's the innocence of the teenage years. I never saw him live, and I did not know James Dewar was the bassist and lead singer!!!  And what a great voice he had!!! He has since passed on, but I still love listening to RT.  Bridge of Sighs is my fav album, but they are ALL good!! Don't forget Procol Harum.....

    S.... J....

James Dewar, bass player and soulful vocalist.... I was lucky enough to catch Trower with Dewar back in '86 in a small club in swamps of Louisiana.... what a night!

  52. N.... S....

Jimmy was the ying to Robin's yang.......................what a team.

  53. M.... F....

I totally liked lyrics in songs cool!

  54. D.... W....

Wonderful song. Dewar had one of the great rock and roll voices.

    D.... W....

Yeah, kind of like Paul Rodgers

    D.... W....

When I was a teenager and met my husband I always said this would be our song we dance to at our wedding. 17 years later just now about to get married and this will absolutely be our first song

    D.... W....

@Sunny Johnson Yes! I've always said that Jimmy Dewar & Paul Rogers had the most soulful voices in rock.

  55. w.... ....

not just a sound but a feeling

  56. s.... ....

Classic blues-rock. Trower's music reminds me so much of Hendrix!

  57. M.... E....

robin has been my favorite since iwas a junior in high school in 1981

    M.... E....

I fell in love with Dewar's voice...it still moves me

  58. S.... P....

    Magnificence.

  59. i.... b....

30 plus years of listening to this great music, so glad I did

  60. J.... H....

A joint, a glass of scotch, and a sweet young thing, and this album playing(CD), and your night is complete!

    J.... H....

John Hardesty Album on vinyl would be better but then ya gotta let go of that sweet young thing i guess to flip to side 2

    J.... H....

    right bro! sweet memories...

  61. A.... S....

Super song, doesn't get any better, thanks for the flashback.

  62. T.... L....

Awesome tune from the 70's as usual..

  63. C.... S....

One of my all time favorite songs.......

  64. A.... H....

    Very Cool!

  65. P.... G....

I fell in love at a bar with this song playing.

    P.... G....

+Pete G, what a wonderful experience that must have been.

    P.... G....

    +sandinyourshoes
I feel the same every time I hear it. Thanks sand...

    P.... G....

@Pete G, I appreciate hearing that you still do.

  66. s.... ....

I always thought this would be the perfect bride/groom dance for anyone's wedding reception....

    s.... ....

    Beautiful song for a wedding!!

    s.... ....

    scalemiester absolutely!!

    s.... ....

    Always my thought as well!

    s.... ....

It was at mine in June 1979..awesome

    s.... ....

this was my sisters/dads father daughter dance

  67. R.... S....

Damn near perfection, sweet guitar, soulful vocals and poignant  lyrics.... don't get much better

    R.... S....

+Rip Sumrall  your right, great sound from jimmy and robin, too bad not a lot of radio play in the 70;s what a shame

    R.... S....

+keith welsh Don't forget Bill Lordan either.

    R.... S....

Poor old Bill was obviously a pretty damn good drummer in his own right, but he just wasn't Reg Isidore.

  68. i.... b....

james dewar at his best  brilliant together been one of my favourite tracks since it came out many years ago  talent at its best

  69. R.... Y....

    So much love...

  70. r.... d....

    So true ..great voice

  71. M.... ....

What an amazing voice Jimmy had!  One can certainly hear his influences!  But he had his own perfect sound!  R.I.P. Jimmy.

  72. C.... M....

They got more sound out of three (then four) players than a lot of bands could with seven or eight.  Guess Robin is the only one left now that Reg Isadore passed.  I'm glad to have spent my high-school years in the 70's, when there was plenty of weed and lots of good music if you looked for it (and sex wasn't a potential death-sentence!).

    C.... M....

+Chris M I swear Man, tell how it is and how it was... Im from the 60's and 70's myself...graduated in 1976. that indeed was an awesome time, concerts were REAL AND CONNECTED,the weed was smokin good,'cheap' in price as were concert tickets! what a time it was indeed, love it. saw Trower twice,in '76 n''77..both were awesome ass kickin shows but very differnet. He'd grown so much in those two years! Ah yes, make love and little to no risk, back then. damn Im glad I got to expereince it all. thanx Chris. YOU Nailed it !

    C.... M....

+Chris M Nope. Bill Lordan is alive and so is Davey Pattison.

    C.... M....

I was just thinking of the original lineup of Trower, Isodore and James Dewar.  James had such a great voice;  he's always been one of my favorite (and tragically underrated) singers, along with Jack Bruce, Paul Rogers and Paul Carrack.

    C.... M....

pretty sure rusty allen plays bass on this album along with bill lordan drums

    C.... M....

@D Martin from Sly and the Family Stone.

  73. B.... ....

    Pure gold....Trower and Dewar unmatched.
Went to high school in the 70's....listened to that Bridge of Sighs and Twice Removed album hundreds of times on vinyl :)

    B.... ....

    73' grad here...……….I feel ya.Many an 8-track too!

  74. E.... P....

Robin TROWER is a god, Heaven sent these vibrations... Love, Peace, JOY

  75. B.... Y....

James Dewar - magnificent blues and rock singer and great bass player - R.I.P. man.

    B.... Y....

+Brook Yoder  MY GREATEST SINGER LOVED HIS VOICE FOR MORE THAN 30 YEARS

    B.... Y....

@ian bremner I was listening to Rod Stewart on the radio today and James definitely had the voice and the control. Rod recorded some nice songs but he ain't James.

  76. S.... ....

This was the first one I heard from him.been a fan ever since.

  77. J.... R....

    Amazing.....

  78. A.... M....

How well I remember this music, truly magnificent.
Robin Trower was and is the best.
Thank you very much for posting.

  79. C.... H....

Yeah, what a talent was James Dewar. Amazing vocalist. RIP.

  82. J.... E....
