Robin Trower - Somebody Calling Lyrics

Somebody calling
calling my name
somebody walking
over my grave

I was back in the arms of my baby
I was safe in the arms of a dream
I was tasting the charms of my lady
And I woke up, do you know what I mean?

Somebody's sighing
sighing for me
somebody crying
for me

I was back in the arms of my baby
I was safe in the arms of a dream
I was tasting the charms of my lady
And I woke up, do you know what I mean?

"Somebody Calling" for this to be one of Robin's Best!!!

  37. a.... v....

    Stevie Wonder's Superstition rip off

    a.... v....

because of the bass line? come on, by those standards almost all music is ripping off something else. It's more complicated than that

  38. C.... T....

    Best.Trower.Ever.

  55. J.... M....

Lightning in a bottle RIP Jimmy Dewar.

  56. J.... S....

Like many my age, I have a few of these pieces of old vinyl heaven around. Can't play them anymore, at least not without an expensive investment in old equipment. Still, I can't let them go. They've melted into me and fused into my heart. We're gonna go out together.

I'm so glad the music is still around and loved by a new bunch of fans. Love Robin and miss James.

    J.... S....

That vinyl is screaming to be heard again, I'm sure!! I'd suggest it doesn't take much cash to get a low-medium quality new or old turntable going again. A modern one might even have a built-in A/D converter so you can run it straight into a computer-based music system.

  57. S.... T....

Why cant classic rock radio play THIS instead of Sweet Home Alabama for the millionth time??

  58. L.... B....

i feel as though i want to lay myself bare

  63. T.... W....

  64. a.... ....

  65. A.... ....

    Have this album on vinyl.
    Love it.

  66. G.... H....

Probably the first time I have heard this 'clean'.....seen these several times and got lost in the music every time

  67. A.... b....

Love this song- my brother introduced me to Trower- when his band starting playing some of his songs. This is my favorite one...Use to play it over and over when I was in my 20's and am in my 60''s now and still sounds as good....maybe better! Love his Blues and rock persuasion.

  68. d.... c....

Shout out to James and Bill, sorry.

  69. d.... c....

actually he wasn't underated, they only played a few songs on the radio. Being way old, those that new music loved him, next to Hendrix. Just saying...I was there.

Great Song, Was second Album I Bought In The seventies From This Very Talented Musician!~.~Feb. 13, 2017 At 08.10 Hrs.~.~

  71. f.... ....

just ot in city dreams for a dollar on vinyl, money well spent!

    f.... ....

@fatprincess45 What a score - one buck - that's the best dollar you ever spent! "In City Dreams" is one of my favourite albums that Trower/Dewar pressed out. I recently bought a turntable at the flea market for ten bucks and got an old Fischer amp at Salvation Army for $18 - in pristine shape and working great - I have every reason to believe I'll get years; if not decades, of use out of it cause they don't make 'em like they used to.

    f.... ....

Hell yeah dude, i've listened to it at least 5 times over, instant classic, worth every (single) dollar
i've eyeballed some good looking equipment at various salvation/goodwills, but damn thats a sweet score

  72. D.... C....

So, OK... Which of all you good folks thought the artist's name was Robin Trowel?  BE honest, It's quite all right.

  73. K.... A....

what a guitarist! The challange of the open amps. wow!

  74. S.... C....

Everything Robin trousers band pit together was mystic. Robin thrower really could make that guitar speak and dewar was the bass vocally and instrumentally. I consider the band to be in my top 10 bands of all time.. at least in the blues/funk category

  75. G.... O....

    prime music

  76. J.... K....

Love me some Robin Trower and James Dewar.....what a voice. RIP

    J.... K....

    Jim K exactly what I am doing🎼🎵🎵🎶🎶🎵🎵

    J.... K....

ever the best rip and trower the best ever! I'm still tripin see you heaven I myself have the thr oat lvu you guys!

  77. T.... S....

Robin and Jimmy, music for the soul.

    T.... S....

Dont forget Lordan. Dude has drummed and recorded with 4 Rock Hall Of Fame inductees, 5 if Trower ever makes it in. These kinds of trio's dont happen often in a lifetime. Reg Isadore gets credit for Twice Removed From Yesterday and Bridge of Sigh's albums, but its all Bill for the rest of their very best years. The live album that they recorded in Sweden is stellar, I still listen to it all the time. Way underrated band in my opinion.

    T.... S....

Bill Lordan is from Minneapolis, my hometown, and started with 'Gypsy', a Minneapolis band that went on to be the 'House Band' at Whiskey A-Go-Go in Hollywood from '69 to '70. Listen to 'When I'm Dead And Gone', by Gypsy. Almost sounds like 'country rock' in the beginning akin to 'Poco' but then goes on to a deeper level and gets into jazz and then comes back out of it and returns to the country rock sound. It was quite a long song for the day but then again some songs were doing that then, ie; 'Green Eyed Lady' by Sugar Loaf or In 'A Gadda Da Vida' by Iron Butterfly. See if you can 'YouTube' it. I know you will enjoy it ;).

    T.... S....

Bill has an awesome FB group where he tells old stories and sells some of his own recordings. If you aren't in there you should be, since you sound like a big fan too. A great guy and very inclusive, he responds to everyone and stays very involved with his fans.
It must have been something to see some of those early shows at those clubs. I was a little young for Gypsy so had to look them up a while back after one of Bill's posts. Long lost but not forgotten!

    T.... S....

@Dan Bertucci Thanks for sharing that info about Bill - I'll go check out his FB page. Appreciate it!

  78. K.... S....

    B.... R....

    B.... R....

How many other guitarists can you say THAT about..........many

    B.... R....

Get Funky one of my all time favorite artists Dewar's vocals were so perfect for this music

  88. i.... b....

I NEED TO SEE HIM LIVE , been a fan forever wish he would tour down under , he has lots of fans out here

    i.... b....

+ian bremner Saw him in 1978, 1982, 1988 2001 and just last June he still has it amazing guitar player

    i.... b....

+ian bremner Saw Bridge of Sighs tour at Philadelphia Spectrum 75/76. Rush opened for him on their 2112 Tour at same. Incredible!!! So loud , stayed with you for days. Rush were no slouches either but Trower knew how to play live and really control a Strat. Witnessed greatness.

  89. J.... D....

    Beyond bad ass.......

  90. P.... b....

You don't listen to this song. You lay back and RIDE it!

    P.... b....

Philip bauman Amen Philip. You hit the nail on the head and drove that bitch home.

    P.... b....

    P.... b....

Philip bauman damn Philip you're smooth like buttah

    P.... b....

Zhanks Phiip, you hit the nail.

  91. D.... H....

Definitely one of the most under appreciated rockers of all time. Rock is best done in blues!

    D.... H....

@Dale Hicks Hey Dale; I noticed your name; and after looking at your photograph and noticing quite a resemblance, you don't happen to be related to Dan Hicks of "Dan Hicks & His Hot Licks," do you?

  92. J.... G....

I must be old because I remember this when it was NEW! Have all his vinyl and dayum it's still so freaking great!

    J.... G....

1977... My Jr. Year of High School... LP and 8 track tape.. The greatest

    J.... G....

Joni - ain't that a fact! I remember going to Sound WareHouse and buying the cassette. I had the coolest Firebird in town.

    J.... G....

I almost thought you were gonna say...have all this vinyl and dayum it's heavy! ...my 2 Wooden Crates full of LP's... moving sucked, monster speakers too, 1980's status symbol stuff, house shaking equipment, hahahaha
btw Dear Lord, thank you for sending me to earth in 1961 because the music grew in maturity, ahead of me, as a guide, advice given to a younger brother. And I really needed it! Thank you Soooooooooo much.

    J.... G....

    We ain't OLD,.......We Are Refined !

    J.... G....

I'm getting closer and closer to being 100 % pure, refined. Loosing the impurities? hahah! Refined. indeed : )

  93. J.... B....

Just the best, from back in the day,if ya know what im saying

  94. C.... T....

One of the best - EVER - uses of the phase shifter on electric guitar.  This song was the coolest of its time.

  95. J.... B....

Saw him recently June 19th, 2015 in Merced CA. Opened with this song. Still fantastic!!!

    G.... ....

you are soooooo right it is funk/blues/rock. H.S. music teacher said "Always remember, bass playah, gots ta be funky!

  98. r.... k....

I bought this album in a bargain bin and fell in love with the beauty of the music and have seen Him perform 30 years later and he is out of a group of superb blues guitarists from the late 60's early seventies in a golden age. He makes the guitar sing.

  99. q.... ....

get your head phones for this one wow smoking red bud to this many a time back in the 70's

    q.... ....

    quriver .. Me too!

    q.... ....

I remember the reddish pot, but never heard it called that. It was usually columbian (brown), or columbian gold, so to be Red wasn't much of a stretch, I guess Brown plus Gold equals Red?
Also remember brown at 15 per quarter ounce ... becoming green 10 per gram.
Don't ever look back you can never go back, $15 for 7 grams was only $2 per gram.
And no, a "LID" was before my times. I was cassettes, lid guys were 8 track era, HAH!

    q.... ....

    I hear u brother many a time

    q.... ....

makes your eyes red just thinkin abot it huh...

    q.... ....

    Red Bud was the best!
