Honestly, I don't know that I have always been that. I haven't always been rest and a place of peace when I was in a relationship and with whomever I was in a relationship. I have my issues and because of me having stuff that had not been acknowledged or dealt with, that baggage went from one relationship to the next. I couldn't see my new paramour in his genuine light and for who he was because the minute he said or did something that reminded me of what I experienced prior to my relationship with him, I reacted. It was a knee jerk response and I punished him. I have fucked up relationships (yea, I use profanity but stick with me babies and learn from my mistakes) that had the potential to lead to marriage some ended on the first date, some ended before they began. I couldn't/wouldn't let go of my hurt, my shame or that voice in my head that says I'm not worth it. Sometimes it's self talk that ruins us. We are harder, wait a minute let me clarify, I am harder on myself than any man has ever been. Now, don't get it twisted, I have been lied to, cheated on, hit, cursed out and blamed for things I didn't do. I internalized all that garbage and claimed it as my own when it wasn't mine to own, it was just garbage. I never blamed the women with whom he cheated with, they may not have known me and even if they did they didn't owe me loyalty, my man did. That's why I didn't understand why women always go after the "other" woman instead of the man they're in a relationship with. They don't do it because they have every intention on giving their man one more chance. Trust babies, we all eat lies when our hearts are hungry. I am attempting to seek wisdom because knowledge is plentiful and wisdom is scarce. I couldn't be and provide a safe haven a place of peace because I was void of it. Baby even the sex was not peaceful. Hindsight is 20/20. All I can do is work on me and be the reflection of what it is I truly want to see. We can lie to ourselves but that mirror doesn't lie and for so long I avoided looking at my reflection in the mirror because I didn't want to see the brutally honest truth that was staring back at me. I can't show you what I have yet to see. Class is in session and I am present and accounted for.
