Robbins, Marty - Rose Of Ol' Pawnee Lyrics

My rose of ol' Pawnee a flower of a dawn
Blooming tenderly her memory still lingers on
My angel of the night a moonlit reverie
A star of love so bright shines on my rose of ol' Pawnee

Sweet are the dreams that I hold in my heart as I go wanderin' along
Long are the hours since we drifted apart deep in my heart is a song
My angel of the night...

Sweet are the dreams...

Always good to hear him again but it also shows how poor the modern Country scene has become.

The first time I heard Marty sing I was 15 in 1955 he sang "I never felt more like singing the blues" I was 17 when I heard Marty sing Rose of Ol' Pawnee 61 years ago & have been a dedicated fan ever since. I think I have every Vinal record he ever made & a few 78's that would stack a metre high I am sure, if not more. What's my favourite song? I don't know there are so many I would say whatever he is singing at that very moment in any given time? I love all his songs. There has never been & never will be a better more talented singer than Marty. with that beautiful clear full sounding voice, Though there are some top singers, they can't sing the highest or lowest notes but Marty can. Marty Robbins You were & always will be the best.

There is a fabulous NEW Marty Robbins CD just released (2017) that contains 100% previously UNreleased performances by him from the Grand Ole Opry. He even sings songs he never officially recorded. It's a great album and gives you a "you are there" feel. (It also has a live version of "Rose Of Ol' Pawnee" on it). This is a link you can go to where they have posted samples from the album: https://good-music-store.myshopify.com/products/marty-robbins-the-lost-recordings
