I thank God I was around in the fifties ect, because that was definitely the best era for music, and as for country, today's music and country music is garbage, there was so many great song's and singers from way back ,and as a songwriter and singer Marty had it all So thank God for Marty.

When I was growing up, I was listening to him in High School and through all the years following and he still is one of my favorite singers... there weren't very many like him then.. and even today his style and songs cant be matched....

Check out Roger Miller. Not quite Marty, but just better music from a better time.

We were on our way to Mississippi for my brother's funeral and had stopped some place to get something to eat. As I was deciding what I wanted to eat it was announced that Marty Robbins had died. I stood there and cried like a baby. He was, and still is, the best singer I have ever heard.

I started listening to Marty Robbins all thanks to Breaking Bad. I've heard El Paso before watching the episode where Walt finds the cassette in the car. Now I like a whole bunch of his tunes. He was one of the greats.

Marty's songs are timeless
I enjoy them as much today as when they were first released. I can't pick a favorite. I like all of them. I feel he was The Entertainer Of The Century. Thankfully, he got in the Hall of Fame before he passed

Marty Robbins came to Bossier City Louisiana not long before he passed away. I was 9 or 10. My Mama wrote him and asked to get special permission so I could go see him. You had to be 18 to get in. He agreed and they put us next to the stage and he invited us back stage. We got to visit with him for over 2 hours! Greatest moment ever to see one of your heroes and for such a giant make it so special! That next weekend we were listening to the Grand Old Opry and he talked about meeting us. Heaven is going to be so amazing hearing that beautiful voice again. I know my mama is having a blast with him singing in Gods Choir!

No recording , regardless of music area, ever covered so much territory music wise. And he also wrote in all of these musical styles as well! All I can say about Marty, to sum it all up, is WOW!!!!!

Marty Robbins is my "God" of Country Music.

Marty was one of the real country singers he and Jim Reeves they did it others followed but missed the bus.

I know exactly what you mean I was weaned on Marty Robbins and Jim Reeves. They are forever in my heart. Thanks to my mum & my gran who shown me the best kind of music to listen to, AND the two best singers to sing the best music. Jim.

I remember sitting next to my father as he played this music watching him drink his coffee and smoke his pipe,  didn't realize how special those times were until he was gone. The day of my dads funeral I stayed up and played all his favorite tunes

Marty Robbins is one of the best country music singers. His is a style of singing that we don't hear anymore. We need to go back to that style of music.

Marty had one of the best voices going wether it be country or any other, his voice was like velvet full of emotion. I am not keen on country music today as the songs they sing are rubbish some have not bad voices but if I don't like the song I,m not interested, I can listen to a crap singer if I like the song .

thanks for posting this. this guy was a great artist. el paso still blows me away. maybe the greatest cowboy song ever. when i was 5 yrs old i heard         'singing the blues'  and i could not keep my ears off it. at age 22 maybe i worked for one race at ontario motor speedway in calif.. i got within 25  feet of marty robbins    as he got out of his race car on a practice run. i'm thankful to have that memory and i am thankful for these recordings of him that you have posted.
