Robbins, Marty - Favorite Song Lyrics

Like a song you keep returning, you never leave to stay
You're mean to me, why must you be, why don't you stay away
Every goodbye kiss keeps sayin' to love like this is wrong
You'll come back to me in memory like a favourite song

When I think that I've forgotten someone calls your name
I find an old love letter and the flame burns bright again
So until you make your mind up to stay where you belong
You'll come back to me in memory like a favourite song

When I think that I've forgotten someone calls your name
I find an old love letter and the flame burns bright again
Until you make your mind up to stay where you belong
You'll come back to me in memory like a favourite song
You'll come back to me in memory like a favourite song

We were on our way to Mississippi for my brother's funeral and had stopped some place to get something to eat. As I was deciding what I wanted to eat it was announced that Marty Robbins had died. I stood there and cried like a baby. He was, and still is, the best singer I have ever heard.

One of my great blessings from God is that I live in a time when I can listen to the best singer of all time (Marty Robbins). I have so many favorites: Tonight Carmen, Don't Worry 'bout me, Ribbon of Darkness, The Story of My Life. . . . . . .Where do you stop? Of course --------- You gave me a Mountain, El Paso, all of them. Thanks for posting.

  26. d.... ....

I started listening to Marty Robbins all thanks to Breaking Bad. I've heard El Paso before watching the episode where Walt finds the cassette in the car. Now I like a whole bunch of his tunes. He was one of the greats.

  27. E.... F....

    Marty's songs are timeless
I enjoy them as much today as when they were first released. I can't pick a favorite. I like all of them. I feel he was The Entertainer Of The Century. Thankfully, he got in the Hall of Fame before he passed
In my humble opinion, there is no other singer that can match his talent. RIP Marty. You are missed

Marty Robbins came to Bossier City Louisiana not long before he passed away. I was 9 or 10. My Mama wrote him and asked to get special permission so I could go see him. You had to be 18 to get in. He agreed and they put us next to the stage and he invited us back stage. We got to visit with him for over 2 hours! Greatest moment ever to see one of your heroes and for such a giant make it so special! That next weekend we were listening to the Grand Old Opry and he talked about meeting us. Heaven is going to be so amazing hearing that beautiful voice again. I know my mama is having a blast with him singing in Gods Choir!

    M.... C....

Love all his songs , hes a great singer with a very nice voice.

    M.... B....

Ah had found a strange red box with a latched top which Ah lumbered down from the attic grasping the handle with both mah seven year old hands. Mah mother exclaimed, "You found that old portable record player!" Opening the top, revealed a 45rpm turntable which could be tilted up to allow access to a stash of records beneath- Elvis Sun records, Fats Domino...and Dad pulled one out and handed it to me. "Play this one", he said. It was mah first experience with the Ritual Magic of Vinyl Musical Alchemy and that record was...Big Iron.
Marty Robbins is beyond that which is defined as Mastery....
    Never another...just like mah Father.

    M.... B....

Listen to half today and will do the other half tomorrow.  Thanks so much for posting these songs.  We lost a great singer but his songs live on.  I recently learned of the great sense of humor Marty had.  God bless you Marty and all who like his music and read this.

  79. S.... M....

Marty Robbins is one of the best country music singers. His is a style of singing that we don't hear anymore. We need to go back to that style of music.

    S.... M....

Marty had one of the best voices going wether it be country or any other, his voice was like velvet full of emotion. I am not keen on country music today as the songs they sing are rubbish some have not bad voices but if I don't like the song I,m not interested, I can listen to a crap singer if I like the song .

    S.... M....

velvet full of emotion, I love this expression. It's totally relevant to Marty 😉.

    S.... M....

yes don't even call it counyry anymore

  80. D.... I....

thanks for posting this. this guy was a great artist. el paso still blows me away. maybe the greatest cowboy song ever. when i was 5 yrs old i heard         'singing the blues'  and i could not keep my ears off it. at age 22 maybe i worked for one race at ontario motor speedway in calif.. i got within 25  feet of marty robbins    as he got out of his race car on a practice run. i'm thankful to have that memory and i am thankful for these recordings of him that you have posted. GOD bless you and JESUS is coming soon.

    D.... I....

the name is wrong . it should be kenny myers

    D.... I....

Jesus should have been here by now. What's taking the guy. I mean it's been over 2000 years. Don't think he's coming any time soon. Don't really believe He was the son of God, but I do like hymns and Carter Family Songs just the same.

    D.... I....

Elpaso is a great song but I think Elpaso City is far better.
