I visited Malaysia a few weeks ago (September 14, 2019 to be exact) and my friends and I met with our Grab driver on our way to Berjaya Time Square. He initiated a conversation by asking me if I like music-- and boy, do I fan over music so much!! He gave me his phone and asked me to play a song that I want.. I really had a hard time thinking about it 'cause there's a lot of songs that popped into my head (haha). I finally thought of a perfect Filipino song called "Balisong" (which means Butterfly Knife in English) by Rivermaya. / I'm aware that Rico or Rivermaya may have a different interpretation on the title. / The lyrics are so beautifully written! In exchange, I asked him to play a Malaysian song that he'd like to recommend to me and he played "Bayang" by Khai Bakar. This song is emotionally deep! He was singing along the lyrics and it was so cool! Music really makes people connected~ I will always cherish this moment!
