Rilo Kiley - Accidental Deth Lyrics

You're obsessed with finding a new brain,
But what you need is a new body.
It feels your brain has lived a thousand lives before
And the skin you call your home
Holds a heart that quits,
And knees that buckle in,
And lungs that can't breathe when they're alone.

And the days come to you like sailors;
You watch them as they drift away.
They meet the sunrise out at the horizon
And it's neither sink nor swim;
Least the water's beneath your chin.

There's blood spilled on the floor.
Everyone's staring at you-- what for?
Till you realize the blood is probably yours...

You feel you lost something. You want it back.
You're lying motionless on your back,
And your legs aren't taking anymore requests.

Those disobedient wrecks!
How you cared for them as they carried you
From class to class and coast to coast;
When you owed rent and you were broke,
Through recessions and addictions.

It's just your accidental death;
Your accidental death.
It's just your accidental death.
You're the indian in the cougar's nest.

Your fright gives way to memory;
Having coffee with your love,
Or the story your father told you long ago:
He was hunting with his own father
For deer. He pointed and spotted her,
Then tripped over some roots or some dead trees.
The gun went off; it was a mistake
And my father was only eight.
And as he watched the dying deer, he was changed
'Cause he felt sorry for what he'd done,
And then he put down his gun.

Will you feel sorry for what you've done?
Will you put down your gun?

It's just your accidental death;
Your accidental death.
But there's no accidental death
When you're the indian in the cougar's nest.

It's just your accidental death;
Your accidental death.
It's just your accidental death;
You're the indian in the cougar's nest

Rilo Kiley Accidental Deth Comments

    I find tremendous comfort in the fact that there are no "who's here in 2019" or who's where because of xxx movie or tv show, in the comments section. Just people who want to chill and show genuine appreciation and listen to a great track because they are Rilo Kiley fans.

  2. D.... N....

  3. D.... N....

    I could sing this all day!!
    God bless science!!

  4. D.... ....

    I think the point about her father killing the deer is that he didn't understand death and how beautiful life is until he killed the deer.

  5. A.... D....

    This song was better the first time when it was called "Is It Wicked Not to Care"

  6. i.... ....

    the title isn't misspelt.

  7. i.... ....

    maybe he wanted to kill the deer until he killed it.

  8. T.... S....

    stop crying and listen to the song, who gives a fuck bout' hunting :P

  9. G.... ....

    she needs an editor to proofcheck her lyrics- went hunting with the father, he trips over a branch and the gun goes off, hitting the deer (she's never been hunting) which is hard enough when your aiming, this guy drops his gun and gets a kill shot, then feels sorry about it? Makes no sense, why go hunting if you didn't want to kill anything- it ruins the whole song for me

    G.... ....

    GreenLightMe it's a metaphor for hurting someone by putting yourself in a situation that could bring them pain and doing something you thought you were prepared for, but when it's over you want to believe it was an accident because the guilt sets in.

    G.... ....

    the point is that he wanted to kill the deer until he actually killed it and realized he'd ended a creature's life. children are often shaken by animal deaths when they're seeing them for the first time. additionally, like wandering fractal said, the entire verse is a metaphor

    G.... ....

    It's about an 8 year old child, you fucking moron
