Ricky Skaggs - The Selfishness In Man Lyrics

I saw a little beam of sunlight steal across a purple sky
And bend down to kiss a rosebud oh it made me wanna cry
To think that I had been permitted to see a part of nature's plan
Oh, there's nothing that stands out more than the selfishness in man.

Little children painting pictures of the birds and apple trees
Oh, why can't the grown up people have the faith of one of these
And to think those tiny fingers might become a killer's hand
Oh, there's nothing that stands out more than the selfishness in man.

Why can't we see the folly and the uselessness of hate
Love could lead to understanding maybe it's not loo late
Then perhaps in his great wisdom we might learn to understand
Then there'd be no shame or sorrow and no selfishness in man.

Why can't we see the folly and the uselessness of hate
Love could lead to understanding maybe it's not loo late
Then perhaps in his great wisdom we might learn to understand
Then there'd be no shame or sorrow and no selfishness in man...

  11. b.... ....

It doesn't matter who it is old George Jones could sing with anyone, and make them sound better by doing so. Great song by two all time greats may their legend live on.

  12. w.... ....

Just fabulous, love it. Some may argue, but George in the 90's for me was in his prime, that voice was like fine wine.

  13. p.... ....

Ricky is a great country singer but George is just majestic, his voice is seamlessly smooth. The way he tails off the words and moves the mic away so he doesnt get a harsh cut off then comes smoothly in with gorgeous phrasing.
We have to conclude that George is the greatest country vocalist ever and will hold that benchmark until life on earth ceases to exist.
