Rick is my teenage heart throb. Was my first concert When I was 13 in 1984. My first love. I had all his albums and the movie "Hard to Hold" was so in love with him. I love how he made this song his own. Ive always wanted to meet him. I guess I still dream about it haha.

I never thought I'd see the day when Rick Springfield would be doing cover songs. He must have some serious writers block going on. I know he wrote most of his own material back in the '80's.

@Tom Goodwin I'll have to look them up and listen their stuff. You would think I'd heard of them since I've been to Australia several times, but not in this case. "State Of The Heart" came out about the same time that Rick was on the way out as far being a major hit contender in the 1980's, so I'm not surprised that it would be a cover.

Mondo Rock was lead by the same guy who used to lead Daddy Cool, Ross Wilson. I don't think Daddy Cool were so big in the U.S., but you might have heard their song 'Eagle Rock'. Mondo Rock's biggest song over here was called "Come Said The Boy". and actually got them banned on a radio station or two.
Ross Wilson is still active over here, as a solo artist and producer. He tours occasionally with reformed versions of Mondo Rock and Daddy Cool from time to time.

@Tom Goodwin Sorry, I've never heard "Eagle Rock." When I get some time, I'll look it up. Been busy with a major project for the last several weeks and I'm tired right now. I'll probably recognize the song when I hear it because, like I said, I've been to Australia a few times. Used to land in Sydney, then on to Adelaide, and finally Coober Pedy. Mom has some friends in Coober Pedy who work in the Opal mines there and we've stayed in their dugouts a few times and I've listened to a few radio stations there in the past, so I'll probably recognize the song when I hear it.

When he did this he said these are all songs he wished he had written. Some good covers some why Rick why on this album.

+Robbie Stewart "Black is Black" was a cover on "Success Hasn't Spoiled Me Yet." The one that blew my mind, that I just discovered last week, was "State of the Heart." I always thought it was his song. He and Tim Pierce got writing credits for adding the bridge.

Just about a little over a month ago I seen this man in person...so much better looking in person! His (this) version of this song just makes me understand him just a little bit of the aingst he goes through with his "struggle". My husband also has the same problem and when we both listen to it together it helps us get through too.This should of been our wedding song if we heard it before another one of Foreiner's other hits..."I WANT TO KNOW WHAT LOVE IS" but,.... Thanx, to whomever was the genius that put this together and one question for anybody....does anybody know if Rick put this on any of his albums/cd's?? I would love to have a copy. ♥♡♥♡♥♡♥♡♥♡

I really like his music have his records, but this is not one of his best efforts. I know I will get flack for it, but I do not like the vocal. Sounds forced and scratchy, not raspy as others might say.
