there's a retro sound to this song even though it was way back in 1981. the song sounds more like something out of the 60's. I've always loved REO. I saw them in 1991.

I love hearing what songs a band chooses to cover. It tells you what they like and'or who their influences are. This is case and point.

@Huawei is a criminal organization. Randy and the Rainbows covered REO; it was written by Gary Richrath. But both versions are classic doo-wop in structure.

@Thomasuki267 point well taken, someone else explained it to me as well amazing what you can learn here. As you say a perfect doo wop tune. It's odd, doo wop style went by the wayside before i was even born, but I've got this real fondness for it. REO Speedwagon is the shit! Wonderful band.

@Thomasuki267 If you like this doo woppish stuff (I do) there is a guy with a screen name of M1garand427 that has the most massive collection of songs in this style I've ever heard of. He posted hundreds and hundreds of cuts. Lot's of stuff I'd never heard of before. He also introduced me to the retro-group from England that is probably the best doo wop act out there today.

Avant garde sounds ? It's catchy music alltight, but that avant garde you seem to hear don't hit my ears... On the contrary, I'd almost say the band smuggled quite some retro elements into their songs, with almost 1960's keyboard intermezzo's that make me think about electric wurlitzer organs hear it on 1:33

I looked in the mirror and saw ugliness.. as I blossomed as a teenager I found people wanting to be my friend for who I was, boys asking me out.. didnt realize that I wasnt so ugly.. am 44 now.. look back now and smile at all the memories of being a teenager.. I laughed alot, cried alot, smiled alot at the thoughts of the crushes I had on guys who I thought I would marry when I wrote their names down on my binders.. haha..life is fun!
