R.E.M. - Star 69 Lyrics

You don't have to take the bar exam to see
What you've done is ignoramus 103
What've I got to hang my hat on
You don't have a pot to pee in
All this just to be your friend
I was there until the end.
Extortion and arson, petty larceny.

I know you called-I know you called-I know you called
I know you called-I know you called-I know you hung up my line
Star 69

I know all about the warehouse fire
I know squirrelys didn't chew the wires
3 people have my number
The other 2 were with me
I don't like to tell-tell but i'm not your patsy.
This time you have gone too far with me.

I know you called-I know you called-I know you called
I know you called-I know you called-I know you hung up my line
Star 69

Why'd you put your quarter down on me?
This reads like some dork inside edition hard copy.
I can't be your character witness
I can't be your alibi
Doorbell rings it's the FBI
We learned Spy vs. Spy
You my friend are guilty as can be.

I know you called-I know you called-I know you called
I know you called-I know you called-I know you hung up my line
I know you called-I know you called-I know you called
I know you called-I know you called-I can't be your alibi
Star 69

MONSTER es un album que a la distancia me parece fabuloso , R.E.M nunca sono tan sucio como en ese disco , epico !

    s.... r....

Así es tremendo disco. Me robaron el CD y lo volví a comprar y hasta ahora lo tengo.

  4. M.... B....

Does it get any better? I think not!

  5. H.... ....

Fact: REM is a rock band
Fact: Star 69 is REM's hardest rocking song
Why does Losing My Religion have more than 62M views. Nonsense. Everywhere. It really bugs the shit out of me when good art gets buried under some over-exposed, more popular, more profitable garbage. Follow buttons should be replaced by little pyramids of dogshit

  6. p.... i....

In 1995 I was 15. So many great memories.

    Damn
What a great track to know that

  9. s.... ....

The first and only grunge album by REM. Definitely inspired by Nirvana.

    s.... ....

starlodear ...and not better but different and brilliant and yet
    I can’t choose
    I’ll have both albums

    s.... ....

I hear more pearl jam influences than nirvana but they are both there

Do you think today's gen would "get this"

  11. O.... G....

Happy Birthday today(July 31) to Bill Berry. Cheers!

  12. J.... D....

He doesn't exactly dance like Michael Jackson, does he?

    J.... D....

No he doesn't.. But why would you even say that???

    J.... D....

    He dances like Elvis sometimes.

    J.... D....

He actually dances / moves much better

  13. I.... C....

Have y'all noticed that magic Mike mentions speed on every album? Love him so much

  14. R.... R....

I love this song. Not sure it wasn't a bigger hit for REM. It kicks ass.

  15. c.... t....

A Question, Is There some official video of "Wake Up Bomb"?, it remindme of, but i'm not sure about that

  20. R.... D....

When we pretend that we're dead.

  21. G.... D....

When is the REM WEAR line of fashion coming out anyway?

    G.... D....

HOLY SHIT THAT NEEDS TO HAPPEN

  22. N.... E....

6 people should never have been born....

  23. J.... D....

Monster was their best album and Star 69 is one of my favorite REM tunes. Why so little attention paid to it?

    J.... D....

    Just say it's your favorite

    J.... D....

    What ? Monster was shit

    J.... D....

You're right. This my favorite song off of Monster. I can only guess that the reason why this particular asskicking song didn't get the exposure and appreciation that it totally deserved is because the other, more subdued, songs were so solid. They were easier to accept so they overshadowed Star 69. I've really tried to figure it out because I love this song the most but I can't explain it otherwise.

    J.... D....

    that frekkid kicks butt.

    J.... D....

I love Star 69. Allowed me to keep an open mind to Slipknot when they just started a little while after this period in time..

  34. M.... B....

    THEY ARE THE BEST

  35. B.... R....

Why was "What's the Frequency, Kenneth?" the only Monster song ever on a compilation, they should've had all the singles, if not the whole album. Actually, all REM songs should be on their greatest hits.

  36. B.... R....

On Feb 1995, I was over -3 years old. I should've been born a lot earlier!!!

Saw them on this tour! GREAT shows! Front Row in Montreal and Floor in Atlanta! Wow, that was 17 years ago. Love the music of the early 90's. I saw them at the 40 Watt Club (I think) in the early 80's in Athens, GA

  41. S.... M....

  52. m.... ....

@MultiNickDanger Yea you're right, current decade weak as shit filled with Popstars, X Factors, American fucking Idols. Muck. Still there has always been shit music. And equally there has always been great music, not matter what decade you're in.

  53. N.... D....

    @TrackMonkey327

what decade, the 90's? actually i'd say it's the current decade, the one now ending, that's not known for good music, or to be strictly accurate, IS known for shit music - the first half of the 90's, at least, was pretty strong

  54. c.... ....

this tour was REM doing southern punk rock. real punk. its over now, the southern punk scene is over, and REM confirmed it with these tour dates. its not a send off, its a remembrance. thank you REM.

    c.... ....

    RIP REM...gone too soon
