Relient K - Don't Blink Lyrics

Collapsible Lung grew on me a bit. Still miss their punk rocky sound in MMHMM and even Five Score. There a few songs on this album that are definitely still reminiscent of their original sound. I couldn’t get on board with Air for Free though, I just didn’t enjoy it all and it bummed me out. Reliant K was definitely the first band I really got into.

You guys have a song for how I feel. I don’t know how you do it, but I love you for it. God bless you, Relient K. ☺️

2018...this song applies now more than it ever has...started listening to them in 10th grade, went through a high school life filled with really high ups, but really deep lows. Now I have to go out and make something of myself in the real world! Glad to have music from this band to keep me going.

This song soothed my senior stress.

I blinked. and now it's freakin' 2018. how the time flies (still one of my favourite songs tho.)

The last line of this song made me sad until I realized that he's moved on and the "you" who is the only person who reminds him is not the "she" who said she loved him so It's okay. It's too uplifting of a song to end on a bitter note.. glad that it is bittersweet.

Is there a CD album for these song? Or is the "Look on up" just a single?

I blinked and the last time i wore my khaki pants was 2002. Threw some skittles and combos onto the stage. I am now 32 and still love the music these fellas create.

So many of the tracks on Collapsible Lung are so underrated.

I have loved relient k since "'Marilyn Manson ate my gf." and "hoopes I did it again." lol so long ago... they have definitely changed from mxpx inspired punk to alternative punk to what they have become now... and you know what I love it all. The happy punk teenagers the serious life meaning lyrics from mmhm and two lefts don't make a right to their new album "air for free." And they are seriously the sweetest guys ever. Matt hoopes snuck me into a show once Bc they wouldn't let me in and got me front row cause he saw what a huge fan I was and then they met with me after. Being someone whose been a fan for nearly 14 years I think I will always love this group even when they change.

This is one of if not my all time favorite Relient K song its so flawless every single second of this song is 10/10 flawless. The first time I heard this song I was like OMG could Collapsible Lung be there best album. Then I listened to the album and said OH CRAP Collapsible Lung is fucking god awful every single song on Collapsible Lung except Don't Blink is god awful and a lot of the lyrics on Collapsible Lung are cringe worthy. Collapsible Lung is a 5/10 album

In love with this band, so happy to see them doing new stuff. I met them back in 2004 probably, literally the nicest guys ever. Like this song.

Why is everyone complaining about how they changed their style? They've been around for a while now and if they didn't enjoy their style then they're allowed to change it! I love both styles, personally. But forget and not slow down is an amazing album and we shouldn't be complaining about it just because their style has changed.

Relient K has evolved so much, but I love it because I know I have grown and evolved along with them. I'm not a teenager like I was when they first started playing, but I still find their sound relevant now. Keep it up guys!

They do definitely sound different, but I think they are both as good even with their differences.

They don't, but that's because people change. A saying I've heard that is pretty true is that change is the only constant in life. Maybe it takes some getting used to, but it's not necessarily bad. Musical artists are one of the many things that change with time. They try new styles. It might not be ideal for some people, but change can be a good thing.

Matt Thiessen knows a weeping Angel when he sees one.

This is certainly a departure from the old punk inspired Relient K. But is that really so bad? The band needs to innovate their sound from getting stale and repetitive. So what can I say about Relient K's new sound? I can't complain.

Couldn't have said that better. It's cool that they've trialed different styles throughout the years, and the lyrics fit a different theme on this album (formulated on Thiessen's present experiences at the time) so it only seems natural to structure the album differently.

Christian music is the only genre that is defined by it's lyrical content.   Whether they reference God or not does not show whether the music is good or not.  They didn't use straight references all that often in the other albums. They made subtle references in every record including this one.  It's just a solid track.

I've been a fan of relient k for many years now, and I love this song. They never cease to make me feel good, and while they may not be the same as they were back in the day, they're still great and I still love them and always will.

I grew up with listening to Relient K, and the band will forever hold a very special place in my heart. However, to me, the new album FEELS different. I guess change and innovation is never avoidable.

It's not avoidable to a real artist who still has something new to offer. Plenty of bands fail at change and innovation, lol

Catchy song...so catchy that I can't tell the difference between this and any other alternative band out there. I remember jamming on The Anatomy of the Tongue in Cheek when I was younger, which was a fun punk-ish kind of album. This...this is just bubble gum rock. I'm sad they fell into this, pop isn't timeless; it's just passing trends.

I'm Christian and I'm not disappointed with this album. Relient K is one of the few exceptions to the norm filled with cheesy cliche Christian rock. It's gotten to the point where musicians are ashamed of their Christianity because they fear being classed as "Christian Rock". Rock on Relient K.

You are completely right. But don't be afraid to call yourself a Christian just because many Christians are hypocritical. Would a soccer player be ashamed of saying he was a soccer player just because there are many bad soccer players out there? Of course not. Not disagreeing with you, but I understand how Christians would feel disappointed with this album. Growing up with Relient K, people assume that as they grew up in their faiths, so did Matt. Also, if you strive to be a Christ follower, the topic of God should be ever- increasing on your lips. He should be a part of your 'crushes' and 'relationships'. To summarize, people held Matt in a higher standard than he should have been. Perhaps some people are not 'hateful', but perhaps rebuking?

I think matt is really searching right now. listen to verse 2 of this song and collapsible lung. I think these are some very personal lyrics which I respect in an artist and I think as christians as well we need to search and check ourselves to see if we truly believe in Christ.

It kills me how every single time there is a new album coming from a band there's people who say "it's nothing like their old stuff." The fact is, we are never happy. You'd be complaining if it was all the same, wishing that some of them could be different. Artists experiment with different tastes because they have to figure out what they like. You expecting the same style through their entire music career is like them expecting you to only eat one type of food only for the rest of your life.

real Christians don't walk around all pious and hypocritical living their lives on the basis of not doing certain things. those people are the reason why people like you walk away from the Church everyday. Real Christians are washed by the Blood of Christ. That's what makes you a Christian. It's whether or not you're saved; not whether or not you're sitting in a church once a week. You should know this.
