she reminds me a lot of Alicia Keys, but her songs need to be more personal and pop more somehow. She's amazing but missing some certain ingredient that would put her up into international pop star status. I love her, but I wish she could be loved by more people everywhere. She deserves it.

They are pushing "Don't Know How to Love You" to radio early this year, I don't think Haley's heart is into 'Pop' music. She loves Jazz, but I think her family's influence into Rock/Blues/Soul is where her center is. OTOH she has no problem singing pop type songs, some of her unreleased songs are very pop. She also has an Electronic Dance Music track w/ Vicetone that is about to enter the top 100 on iTunes. People have to remember, Haley is determined to do this w/ minimal help from 'The Industry', which means she has to be able to be creative how she gets where she wants to go. She doesn't have corporate 'big bucks' backing her, nor is she behloden to them. Which means this will take time. Sure it sucks that she's not as well known as we'd like her to be, but she's learned so much, made so many big contacts and is in control of her career. Doing it 'right' always takes time, Cheers

I love Haley, and I really like this song. Until she gets to the three minute long "gotta gotta get up" part. I can't stand that much repetition in anybody's song. Hopefully it's missing in the official album version.

The song is on her second album, "Better". It doesn't go as long as it does in her live performances of the song. The recorded version also doesn't have as heavy a reggae flavor as her live performance of it.

The song is meant to be a crowd participation song. In smaller venues among her fans, she tries to get her fans to 'get down' w/ her as she sings more softly , then 'get up' w/ her as the song gets louder. That's why she calls it the new "Shout', in reference to the song the band in National Lampoon's Animal House movie, where the crowd gets lower when the band gets quieter.


Obviously the song is less effective in these huge situations with over ten thousand in the crowd. It's much more appropriate for venues of about 300+


Haley has songs for different purposes for her live shows. Like her song "My Cake" is her 'jam song'. Every time she performs it, at the end, each performer gets a moment to jam. In her new song, Last Kiss Goodbye, it's a simple song, but it's meant to set up her free style scat at the end.


Part of Haley's appeal in live shows is she rarely ever plays the same set, the songs in the same way, why I still love going to shows even though I've been to 50. I'm addicted to Haley's live shows.
