This song is very poignant to me. It was on one of the two Jim Reeves records that my Daddy owned. Big, black, vinyl disks - remember those?
Since I was little, I played the Jim Reeves records a lot. One day, my Daddy came in the house and I was listening to this song. He said something like “I’m your silver haired Daddy”.From then on, i connected that song to my Daddy. He’s gone now, but I still have the records plus digital versions of them.
This song made me cry as a young adult and sometimes still does. I told my mom that I was listening to it and it made me cry. She asked me why I listened to a song that made me cry. I told her that it was stress relief to cry and I knew that that album would do it.
Jim Reeves is my absolute favorite singer of all time.

One of the best singers of all time. What a voice. A real shame he died tragically in a plane crash. I guess the Good Lord has his/or reasons but it still hurts that he took away Jim in his prime. When I get to heaven, I'm gonna have a front-row seat to a Jim Reeves concert. BTW, Gene Autry wrote and recorded this song.
