Probably sounds like an unusual reason for liking a song but here goes. Back in the 1960's my mother used to take me on the train from
St. Louis to visit my grandparents in Arkansas. We used to arrive in the state Capitol of Arkansas around midnight. Some of the happiest moments of my life were when we would come across the Arkansas River just before we arrived at the train station. I loved seeing the lights of downtown Little Rock as we eased across the river bridge and slowly started coming to a stop. My grandfather would meet us at the train and with my nose pressed against the window, I would look for my first glimpse of him standing on the platform waiting for us. A few minutes later, we would all be in his car heading for Pine Bluff.
I know that Oklahoma born Reba didn't wasn't talking about an Arkansas city when she wrote this, but I can't hear it without thinking about that city and some of the happiest moments of my life.
