this guy is a legend and this song is so far king good. The lyrics are poignant and that guitar, it could be Mark Knopfler, there are similarities to his vocals, and the lyrics with Mark Knopler

Both brilliant artists. Mark Knopfler had played with many artists but I can't find any songs with Chris Rea.

I thought the same thing. He does sound like Mark knopfler.

I dunno, I like both of them, but Rea has more of a crackling in his voice, and is a bit softer. I like Rea's singing more, but Knopfler is extremely talented on the guitar. This song has a good guitar in it, but its not as complex as Knopfler's guitar parts. Its still an awesome song though

This version is different from the original version in *Dancing with Strangers*. This version is a little more punchy.

He does magic with his music. It's not important if you know the windy town or not, he can make you believe in the beauty of this town. You can also reminisce about your own hometown and feel the nostalgia in this masterpiece.

Coso Cos, greetings from Brisbane. I have identified the bridge at about 1:40. it is the "Odawara Blue Way Bridge" across the fishing-boat harbour at Odawara - which is about 80km south-west of Tokyo, straight through Kanagawa if you were on the Shinkansen (the line is just out of sight to the right shortly before you cross that cable-stayed bridge).
As to the other locations (tunnels, etc) - I'm guessing they're a composition from footage taken in the same area.
UPDATE: I found the tunnels! They are on the same road but some 10km closer to Yokohama at Kotsubo (small resort). Two tunnels edited to seem like one.
Later in the sequence the landscape looks distinctly like the road sequence he uses in "Curse of the Traveler" - which was shot another 80km further to the SW; from Yumigahama Beach to Cape Iroksaki. Beautiful landscapes.

+John Buckley I live in Holland but my dad lived in Stockton on Tees when he was a young lad. He lived in Norton so i have been in Stockton lot,s of times when i was younger. Still proud off my english roots.

The end of this song has always annoyed me. The song is brilliant and always seems to be heading to a brilliant finish. The reality is that it just fades away. I would love Chris to have another look at Windy Town, and make it the classic it deserves to be
