This great read to me was the piece that opened up the eyes of popular music lovers. For me I realized Ray could could sing standards and his marvelous to touch. His Soul proved to be a dimension he could add to all music. Then came country. The legend emerged. Rip my brother. There will never ever be another .

Ray Charles had one of the most exceptionally soulful voices of all time. Just listen to how he puts so much emotion into every note he sings.
