Randy Travis - The Carpenter Lyrics
He was just a carpenter by trade
He learned from his father at a very early age
There was something special in the man
There was much more to his life
Than just working with his hands.
And He'd say there's no home I could design
That would match the one you'd find
When you leave this world behind
If you only took the time.
[Chorus:]
Love your neighbour like your brother
Treat your brother like a friend
Always turn the other cheek
Help the weary and the weak
And as your life unfolds
Each kindness that you've shown
Will be the nails and hammers
As you build your final ladder
In the manner of the carpenter of old.
[Instrumental]
You could feel compassion in his eyes
But, Only fools that hurt him did not realize
That he was speaking to us all
The righteous and the mighty
The silent and the small.
And He'd say there's no home I could design
That would match the one you'd find
When you leave this world behind
If you'd only take the time.
[Chorus:]
Love your neighbour like your brother
Treat your brother like a friend
Always turn the other cheek
Help the weary and the weak
Make the time for young and old
And as your life unfolds
Each kindness that you've shown
Will be the nails and hammers
As you build your final ladder
In the manner of the carpenter of old.
[Instrumental]
He was just a carpenter by trade
He learned from his father at a very early age...

Exactly the way God want us to live each day, a constant reminder to search myself and see what it is that I can do to better my life for others. Guide me Lord in this life, to live by your principals, that I may be blameless standing before you on Judgement Day.
exactly at my first job a guy came in living in an abandoned house and i had a pocketful of change (it became his because he needed it worse than i did and he wasn't on drugs so i didn't care (he didn't even ask for money))
THE LAST SONG WAYLON JENNINGS EVER RECORDED
😞 i miss this guys and that's why I started to learn sing and write older country music and put it on YouTube for views
this is not the last Waylon recorded
I agree with howard this is not the last song waylon recorded. this song the carpenter was recorded in 2000. waylon recorded a full length cd in 2002 before he died all though that last album of waylon's was not released in 2002. it was released a few years later than that.
