Ho D have to remember at time they wanted to keep that live/first 3 album sound going but it wasn’t selling them enough records and they were getting pressured to work with so and so and change to sell them. But that period definitely got them to do some of their best songs no doubt.

This was the first record album I had ever purchased; the one I bought was on yellow vinyl. I later sold it to my best friend (he had a huge Ramones record collection) for $2.00. Thankfully, he still has it!

Gotta hand it to Phil Spector on this album. Despite being a star producer, he actually tried to emphasize and tweak the Ramones sound rather than toning it down or making it more like what was popular at the time, e.g. Styx - Babe (Babe um leavin').

RAMONES !!! Had the luck to see them in Paris, London and New York

Johnny Ramone actually lectured me a few times back then about how I needed to make sure I went to college and got really good grades: I did not want to go to college, but seriously - he convinced me to. I got mostly straight A's. Johnny also told me to quit eating fast food (cook my own dinners instead), that long-term relationships are better than any alternative, and that I need to read and study my music to become the best person I possibly could become. I was 17 at the time, and I felt like he was my dad!

BTW, the song 'Durango 95' is on their LP because of me as well. I know it sounds crazy, but indeed it is all true. They were good guys - really talented, humble, and genuine pioneers (even if they didn't think of themselves in those terms). I miss Dee Dee's smile, believe it or not. He had such a great smile...

This was the first Ramones album I ever got. I used to love playing this song, especially towards the end with Johnny's guitar feedback going all the way to eleven. I liked the album so much that I went out and got all the earlier albums.
