Rains - Hurricane 2 Lyrics

I went for a walk the other day
I saw a man who didn't seem to have a reason to smile
After looking at his face I knew that
If I were him I couldn't turn my mouth up
I thought I'd give him some time so I sat down
Then he started to cry and said he is a
Old man with a young man's heart
You may be wondering how it gets this far
Open an ear boy let me tell you how it goes
It was a rainy night twelve years ago
I had a nice wife, three kids and a good home
I was waiting impatiently the phone rang
The voice was calm and he said
I'm sorry sir your family's gone
They're at a train track, the engine stalled
Nothing at all could be done to save them
Sorry again about this call 'cause you're a
Young man with an old man's heart
You may be wondering how it gets this hard
Don't you fear son this will pass before you know

Can you imagine
Everything you wanted
Everything you hoped for
Everything you needed
Can you imagine
It all just leaves you drowning
In pools of self destruction
I don't think you can

It won't hurt if you don't want it to
You can stand for your pride or
Lay down a die
Now son you've gotta keep in mind
All the tears
And the pain and the blame
And everything in between
And then you realize no one cares
And I said
Young man with an old man's heart
You may be wondering how it gets this hard
Don't you fear son this will pass before you know

Can you imagine
Everything you wanted
Everything you hoped for
Everything you needed
Can you imagine
It all just leaves you drowning
In pools of self destruction
I don't think you can

I went for a walk the other day
I saw a man who didn't seem to have a
Reason to smile

Have you ever heard of a hurricane
It takes your life and your breath away
Have you ever heard of a hurricane
It takes your life away

  1. K.... O....

This song is one of the most beautiful tunes I've heard. Rains is so underrated!

A discussion between the members of Rains...
"You know what Hurricane, our massive hit, needs? Mass amounts of auto-tune!"
"Genius. Let's also throw away that entire sentimental, lamenting overtone. Nobody needs that, you know?"
"While we're at it, let's cramp our original lyrics into a small fragment of the initial song. Fill the new null space with literally explaining our metaphorical title and useless guitar!"
Yeah. If you couldn't tell, I'm not fond of this song.

+eldercar7 The original was way better, agreed.

John Ammons II how? like i respect your opinions and all but i just have always felt like this has more soul. i like the lyrics better too. maybe its because i found this verison at time in my life where i had lost litterly everything so i connected to it.. id never found a song that fit everything i was going through so perfectly. Have you ever heard of a hurricane it takes your life and your breath away..i think the guitar solo is really impresive too. i also just like theraw sound of it. but i see why you like the stories verison.

eldercar7 plus i believe this was recorded before the stories verison. i could be wrong though. then they couldve just called it hurricane 2 and put it on the second album.

the stories album seemed kinda sophmoric imo.
the whole sound of the album was a story book talking about tragic figures.
not that thats bad - it just lacks real substance its like listening to folk tales.
big whoop, nice story - wheres the emotion? yenno?

eldercar7 I like this version but I do agree the original is better short and simple straight to the point
