Queensryche - Prophecy Lyrics

Wings of fire, are sailing past the point of no return
Blinding eyes, from which it hides the key
Seek to rise, begotten are the fools who'll never know
Force will hide the presence that we see

There's no time to run away
A prophecy will make its stay

Course of rage, a never ending fight for the unknown
To justify the formulated scheme
So we find a gleaming light to lead us far beyond
The closing gates of our society

There's no time to run away
A prophecy will make its stay

  15. J.... S....

Halford was my favorite vocalist and infleunce as a singer
until I heard this. Saw Priest many times in the early 80's, but nothing compared to this vocal performance, not even close

  23. P.... P....

I had love them since 1984 ....in this is most my favourite song ..with Dont take hold of the flame

  24. B.... 1....

I remember in 1985, not sure of the exact date, my brother-in-law took me to see Queensryche when they open for Kiss for their Animalized album tour. This was at the Forum in Englewood where the LA Lakers used to play. He was brown-nosing because he just started dating my sister at the time. Even now my kids are jealous that I got to spend my teenage years with all these great bands just starting off at the time around Hollywood.

  25. G.... K....

    The best metal Singer

  35. D.... R....

Fuckin classic rock! Legendary in its state and truly Blew my mind when I first heard it. The range Tate gets on this album Fuckin Hits me right in the chops! Always gonna love this album!

  36. R.... R....

  37. J.... S....

Tate in his prime is the best that has ever been

    J.... S....

Overall the best metal singer ever i would add

  38. I.... K....

    Bomb \m/

  39. A.... M....

Without a doubt, one of the best live albums in the history of rock and roll !!!
What a band from another fuck´n planet is Queensrÿche !!!

  40. T.... ....

Superb, I saw them on this tour and they are the only support band I have seen that got an encore.

  41. A.... R....

Wish they would re release this remastered on DVDs.

    A.... R....

Its on the Building Empires dvd

  42. N.... R....

THE GREATEST SINGER IN FULL VOICE!! NOBODY CAN COPY HIM BECAUSE OF HIS UNIQUE VOCAL SOUND DUE TO HIS UNIQUE PHRASING!!

  43. e.... ....

Yeez! I would step on lego every day for the rest of my life to be able to transform myself back to this consert.

  44. J.... S....

For range, power and pitch, Geoff in his day was the best metal singer who has ever lived..

    J.... S....

    @Jolly Dronio

    1. Halford
    2. Dio

    J.... S....

@Ellie Timms No, but I saw Queensryche live in the mid 2000's and he couldn't hit the notes from the early albums. He was still good, but this is beyond incredible

    J.... S....

    @Fang Face 1. Tate, 2. Halford, 3. Dio

    J.... S....

    @Patricia C.
    Ok

    J.... S....

@Patricia C. gotta have Dickinson in that list somewhere. All are/were great!

  45. L.... S....

This is their best, the first 3 albums . Mind Crime, while a Metal Pink Floyd was nice idea .But the lack of high notes from Tate showed the decline of his Halford like range and the success lead to drugs alcohol and worst for Tate ,Cigarettes that further choked off his talent. Yeah when I watched QR on Mindcrime Tour before the last encore Geoff Tate came out smoking a Cig and I knew he would never sing the same again.

  46. J.... M....

    first 2 albums

    J.... M....

My thoughts exactly. As someone who was lucky enough to live through the early 80's and witness these bands first hand, I can without a doubt totally agree with you. The EP, and The Warning are still my favorite albums by them. Early QR, Fates Warning, Savatage, and Crimson Glory(the first 2 albums)---------are Prog. Metal legends.

  47. C.... L....

    this Band kick ass

  48. G.... ....

    Man, I miss DeGarmo...

    G.... ....

The band was never the same after he left.

  49. L.... C....

Fucking advertisements suck!! shoving their product in our faces every five minutes

  50. L.... C....

that was so fuckin bad ass for a live show. saw them in 86 was insane

  51. L.... I....

    awesome possum

  52. B.... R....

Awesome song! For whatever reason this wasn't on the self-titled ep or on "The Warning" but it is on the soundtrack album to The Decline Of Western Civilization,Part 2- The Metal Years" documentary.

  53. M.... H....

There is a lot of Iron Maiden in this band.....love it! :)

    M.... H....

The opposite is true... They predated Helloween.

    M.... H....

Have to admit Tate is a classic "Air Siren" front man but the band's totally different then Maiden. Still love me some Ryche but always gonna be infatuated with Maiden.

    M.... H....

    Michael Holmgaard
Sure. They were called "the American Iron Maiden" back in the day.

    M.... H....

Queensryche sounds like queensryche. Nothing like iron maiden. Both were and are still awesome bands.

    M.... H....

@Big Rob0918 have to agree, I do not hear any sonic similarities between Queensryche and Maiden, especially vocals. they both have dualing guitars but styles are nowhere comparable to my ear, same with drumming, same with vocals, bass and keyboards

  54. J.... K....

Awesome performance. Although, this is the only time I've heard Geoff skip the high F# in the middle of the song. Weird...

  55. T.... W....

It's too bad when they split. They rightfully fired Geoff on the massive amount of funds. Tate on 3rd wife, stripper/fan club president/2 kids (not Tate's) hired her to manage the band.
Never have a relative with that background manage a popular group.
She funneled the funds to a unheard band. She propped the stage for cabaret. Drunk on her ass. literally half hanging off stage when the band was playing their Mindcrime songs.

Awful. Tate's solo with mediocre . musicians (changed people a few times). sounds nothing like Queensryche playing now. Todd LaTorre has totally in 3 years fit perfectly. Sounds great live.

    T.... W....

Kristen Dokken so Geoff's third wife was hired by the people who fired him? and was drunk at the time and was married to him?

    T.... W....

Lets here Todd nail that awesome wail on the end of blinded .....then i will be sold until then he cant step up to Geoff in his prime

    T.... W....

he is twice married, not three times. still with second wife, happily married, the past is the past, mistakes were made, for sure, but let's just enjoy the music and let these guys live their lives in peace without trashing them. They were f**king amazing unbelievable untouchable and unfortunately, some good things do come to an end.

  56. T.... W....

I believe this was 1984. During the 80's most labels would see how bands did there, also toured Germany. They love American rock. I had listened to a demo tape at a huge club in San Antonio Texas. I was assistant manager. We brought them into play. Amazing.
Got to go to Tokyo, the concert kicked ass.

    T.... W....

...they played the whole Live In Tokyo set here in san antonio in '85 at sunken gardens. some guy named Yngwie opened opened up for them doing his entire Rising Force album....

  57. S.... E....

MAN What year was this? had to be late 70s early 80s check out Geoff's mullet! I dont care I still love him!!!

    S.... E....

1982/3 this was the last song of there self titled EP

    S.... E....

    Sharol Ewers
Mullet became a trend in the mid 80's but it was not the standard haircut of metal bands.

    S.... E....

August 4th or 5th 1984, Tokyo. The Warning Tour.

  58. L.... W....

best metal vocalist. no one before or after has this guys range. scary good. once in a lifetime talent

    L.... W....

I agree. Most metal singers of this era were able to hit the really high notes (that was standard), but Geoff Tate had this amazing range and a rich tone. He could go really low and then really high.

    L.... W....

With the permission of the Metal God

    L.... W....

Your right and the whole band was great; and the drummer is just beating the hell out of those skins

  59. L.... Z....

Espero que lo tengan conpleto saludos desde mexico

  60. L.... Z....

    nadie tenndra este video conpleto

  61. R.... S....

    game on

  62. R.... 1....

SOOOOOO glad im not Scott R's Drum tech.....JESUS he hammers on stuff....total badass!!

  63. L.... S....

The whole bands energy compared to when then were done is like apples to mud

  64. D.... ....

some of there songs sounded better live than in the studio

    D.... ....

Because they did overdubs in the studio after the show. Very few albums are actually live. Slayer is the only one that I know of that is truly live.

    D.... ....

Yep, most of them are completely manufactured in the studio. The funny part is they spend a lot of time making it sound somewhat shitty so they can pass it off as being live, like KISS ALIVE and ALIVE II.
    LOL

    D.... ....

The stuff from Tokyo 5-7-89 on here is truly live, it's right off of my console. This is either remixed and over-dubbed, or built from the album's tracks with an alternate vocal, or mix minus vocals.

  65. G.... M....

The best singer of all time in this genre

    G.... M....

him and dio are you cant forgot dio he had a perfect metal voice in a very different way than tate respectively

    G.... M....

    Michael kiskie

    G.... M....

My favorite singer ever. Too bad he's an ass!

    G.... M....

    El mejor es Bruce Dickinson

  66. h.... s....

    my vocal favorite

    h.... s....

Agreed....plus Russell Allen of Symphony X

  67. J.... C....

Absolutely incredible band - I remember listening to them for the first time in the 1980's, when I purchased 'Rage For Order' - everything came together so well and so memorably. Even now, when I listen to the music, it gives me goosebumps - go, Queensryche, go!

  68. M.... B....

plz gif mme the link for full dvd

    M.... B....

It was never released on DVD. It was released on VHS, Betamax, and LaserDisc in 1984/1985.

    M.... B....

+Gabo White Well this specific song from the show was on the Building Empires DVD. That's probably what it was ripped from.

  69. T.... ....

    I think I found a new band.

    T.... ....

    King Diamond or Metallica ;)

    T.... ....

    @Abderrahim Bourkia Both ;)

    T.... ....

welcome to the club. I was introduced to Queensryche in 2015 first song was Empire, mind was blown! then I bought the album operation mindcrime (their greatest album) mind was blown away again!!! So welcome to the greatest world called classic metal

    T.... ....

MJNation , You have excellent taste in music! Band's like this are one of a kind. Geoff Tate has an amazing 4 octave vocal range! He's actually a baritone. Most of these singer's who can hit the high notes are tenors. Check out Fates Warning. They're amazing too. If you've never heard Dream Theater, they're amazing also. If you like heavier metal I recommend Pantera. Turn your friends onto this amazing music. They just don't have band's, that aren't Satanic, that write their own music and don't use Auto-Tune. RYCHE N ROLL FOREVER!

    T.... ....

    operation mindcrime!!!

  70. J.... D....

I sometimes feel like Queensryche's studio music is better than their live content. Even in his prime here he skips so many high notes and he doesn't do the Queen of the Reich notes as high either.

    J.... D....

He sings it pretty much like it was arranged at the time. The version everyone knows and loves was actually recorded during the sessions for Rage for Order in '85/'86.
As for Queen of the Reich from this show, he actually sings it pretty spot-on. He even takes the F#5 up to a G5 after the guitar solo :)

    J.... D....

+John DelZoppo You can say that about every band live.. This is a GREAT vocal performance.

  71. M.... ....

that drum break .. absolutely divine

    M.... ....

+McSwigg, you mean the one at 2:54? I got goosebumps the first time I heard that! And I'm a drummer myself, man I love Scott Rockenfield as a drummer.

    M.... ....

    +UglyDrummer yeah that

  72. A.... K....

NEVER SEEN THIS VIDEO GREAT JOB QUEENRYCHE FROM TONY LEE FRISBY FUENTEZ PRESLY

  73. M.... D....

Back when they wanted to be Iron Maiden and Geoff pushed his voice to nothing but 11. Too bad they couldn't have matured much earlier, then perhaps his voice would have held out much longer.

    M.... D....

    Dickinson has nothing on Tate

  74. K.... F....

Elvis@1:21.... Classic ..you gotta love it.!

  75. T.... ....

Sick Time Signatures And Musicianship Had Me Hooked From The Beginning.

  76. T.... ....

One Of The Best StoryTelling Metal Bands Of All Time !!

    T.... ....

@Timbalero2012 Yea along with King Diamond ! :P

    T.... ....

Yeah Sepultura opening for King Diamond on Halloween at the Ritz In Manhattan NY.  Just An Amazing Show...

    T.... ....

Timbalero2012 Rush was good at story telling also

  77. G.... B....

So incredible bad ass it's one of my favorite songs of all time.   I live for Geoff's high note at the end, but alas, never to be heard live that way again.  Wah....

  78. T.... R....

    ¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡METAL!!!!!!!!!!

  79. 2.... ....

The 80'S when Ryche was the Shit!!!

    2.... ....

    Right on about that! \m/

  80. C.... F....

Ed Bass is so underrated. He's never gotten the credit he deserved.

    C.... F....

    Yes. I agree.
    Eddie is great

    C.... F....

I read a gig review around the time of Empire and he was described as 'the legendary Eddie Jackson'. I think that reviewer obviously got it but you're right. He's a fucking awesome musician with very little credit to his name

    C.... F....

Totally agree some even say he sucks and NO-ONE ins this band ever sucked!

  81. M.... ....

    Fucking Scott!

  82. k.... ....

Back then (even though he had stage-fright) Geoff must have known he had what it takes to "WOW" the crowd....!  He can wow us still; the MANY TIMES in his life he has been out there w/out a stop...I believe with all my heart that He has EARNED OUR ETERNAL "WOW"!
Thank you Geoff Tate for lavishing us all these yrs.!
    ~ Peace & Rock-On!

    k.... ....

Stage Fright? Not sure where you got that from? I've known them all for many years. Saw Geoff sing with many different bands and never did he suffer from stage fright. His stage presence was not the greatest until the Ryche but mostly because the venues played had stages with barely enough room to stand on... Once he was able to move around, he opened it up some. But, as far as stage fright was concerned... Not the Geoff Tate I remember!

  83. R.... ....

It sucks ass that the first progressive metal band that wrote the most thought provoking, mind-expanding music has parted ways.

  84. b.... ....

Wow, those were the days! Geoff could hit all those high notes, Chris and Michael had perms and Geoff and Scott still had hair. Great song, and back in these days they were one of the best live bands in the business.

    b.... ....

🙄 The rest of the band offered more than great hair.

  85. M.... ....

Geoff and Chris were he driving force of QR. When Chris left it all fell on Geoff. Till this day he is the only reason to listen QR

  86. G.... W....

Best Band that came out of North America!

  87. r.... ....

excellent, as much as I support Tod LaTorre in the new version of the band, hell the original really will never be topped. great song!!

  88. 1.... s....

    underratted song

  89. W.... W....

    this is insanely good.perfect

  90. M.... ....

One of my favorite songs from the Ryche.
Beautiful solos from both Wilton and de Garmo.
    And the voice, the voice.
    Geoff used to be amazing

  91. M.... ....

I remember a friend got me into them. When I was in tenth grade and I saw this video as well as other videos they put out in the 1980's I was blown away. In the 1990's I had to endure Pearl Jam, Green Day, and Blind Melon. Luckily there were thrash/death metal groups in the 1990's or I'd have no good memories of 1990's music

  92. J.... A....

queensryche , fuck they were so awesome, cheers from peru! i am 15

  93. t.... s....

    best song from queensryche

  94. 6.... ....

    Chris DeGarmo!

  95. P.... ....

Geoff Tate is 26 years old here

  96. P.... ....

Geoff Tate is 26 years old here

  97. P.... ....

The one of Queensryche's greatest songs, it was perfect. Perfect vocal, perfect music. I'm really upset about style, that Queensryche has now, country rock or something like that. Please don't think that in Russia people don't listen rock music. As for me, I don't listen anything except rock.
p.s. There is no any communism in Russia! Sorry for my english if anything wrong.

  98. M.... ....

    @Guptori

There making millions, your not haha

  99. M.... G....

overusing the whammy arm doesn't always work wonders in a solo

  100. c.... m....

Great old Queensryche stuff! VERY HOT!
