The furs were a favorite 80s band. A superb mix of dark rocking , great deep drenched vocals by butler. Perhaps one of my most favorite singers.

The 80's weren't crap..There's the Furs, The Birthday Party, The The, Bauhaus list is endless. .I was into Bowie from 72 but the 80's were brilliant too..so much stuff....This Picture of Butler looks just like my late partner, it was good back then.

This was about the only pop worth listening to in the whole world. And it was considered an alternative band back then.

I was always pretty sure this song was about a girl in an insane asylum. The waiting, the perceived dangers outside, the shirt with no sleeves... etc.
I was always pretty sure this is just another one of those mundane surreal dream-like places that Richard Butler is always setting his songs in.
Instrumentally this is profoundly ecstatic music guaranteed to raise the kundalini of even the most inhibited listener. The lyrics encourage a listener to step out of the default envelope and live creatively, eliminating assumptions and expectations of all kinds to gain a clearer understanding of one's own potential.
Remember when this album came out. Still my fav Furs record!
