Propagandhi - Fedallah's Hearse Lyrics

As so many practiced diplomats,
So too your vaunted laureates,
Whose access to the higher rungs
Of a cultural priesthood is hinged upon
Their flat for sophistry.

Well, I vote you the best equipped
To shrink from speech that might suggest
Any thoughts your key target-market might
Not have already signed-off on and ratified.

And I vote you most likely to
Clutter your language with
So much deadwood that no
Amount of pruning will reveal
Your intensive, protracted

Campaign of saying
Nothing at all.
Your daydreams
Of black tie affairs at Rideau Hall.
Your acceptance speech.
Your dramatic pause.

Don't forget to thank those
Bitter ex-musicians cum embedded
Rock-journalists frantically applauding
The latest artist-formerly-known-as
Iconoclast, giddy from the fumes of a fresh detection,
Moping to the maudlin beat of a hat rack rhythm section,
A tacit understanding of mutual non-aggression
Enjoyed by every nauseating do-nothing functionary.

Really, it's not so much the incessant ruse of
Assigning profound meaning to the meaningless
Curios you decorate your sets with in
Your extraordinarily mundane fictions.

It's the arrogance of the subtext:

The province of human affairs
Is a field best left
To dilettantes with an extraordinary gift
For feigning of paralysis.

For saying nothing at all.
For daydreams
Of black tie affairs at Rideau Hall.
An acceptance speech.
Sustained applause.

    FUCK YEAH DUDE

Insert the words "the white house" for Rideau Hall and this song instantly becomes about Beto and Mayor Pete.

1 dislike?? I guess Trudeau or some other fake ass politician, lawyer or cop have heard this song and couldn't tolerate that much truth in 4 minutes! I just hope it helped crushing the lie they live.

  5. F.... ....

@scarsunseen24 I don't know if you know anything about Propagandhi! :-) Whether serious or joke, "progressive thrash" was something Propagandhi called themselves on their first poster looking for a bassist way back when in 198whatever. They've used it on and off since. And it gets more close to the truth with every single album!

  8. M.... D....

    fuck yea

  9. M.... P....

I'm at a loss for words. This song is incredible.

  10. C.... ....

I agree with the uploaded. This is the evolution of punk. I am sick of all those bands that sound the same. They lack any creative incentive at all. Album after album doing the same thing, not sounding fresh. Propagandhi still sounds fresh.

  11. R.... ....

I'm more a trash/heavy metal guy but Propagandhi is amazing! There is a thin line beween their music and metal! And I love it!

  12. I.... I....

Chris' vox on this song are amazing. Killer track!

  13. I.... C....

Heavy shit!! My favorite band 100%

  14. k.... ....

one of the best songs for me is Last will and testament

  15. M.... L....

One of the best Propagandhi songs. Hope Propagandhi and Bad Religion keep making albums, cause they are the only bands left punk-rockin' the way I like.

  16. s.... ....

Just..... no. Perhaps Metallica's "Justice" album could be considered "progressive thrash." I don't know if you have ears.

  17. M.... V....

this song in particular is melodic punk, most propagandhi's new songs are melodic. and yes, they usually compose a progressive melody too.

  18. p.... ....

haha "This is what punk should have become." indeed! imo that's the best definition for propagandhi!

  19. V.... ....

this is not punk... this is progressive trash

    V.... ....

    FUCK OFF

  20. x.... ....
