What he said. I watch this every time I get frustrated with the education system. I am a teacher and I hope one day people will start listening.

IMO they're doing education entirely wrong. A lot of classes you don't need (Aside from lower-level math and some English) except if you're pursuing certain occupations. Standardized testing 'n stuff really only tests your memory capacity and if you can do certain problems, and nothing much else. They should focus MUCH more on hands-on activities and what you actually do at that occupation, not just "Solve Problem X," or something like that.

As a student in the system of education that is mandated by the state of texas i have been to many schools but the one that i just left to come to the one that I attend currently but for what I have to say about the one I left I felt trapped and hated because I am white because over 98%of the town I live in is Mexican other than my family i was the only white child there and i was constantly reminded of that fact every boy girl and the principal at that school would talk to me in such a demeanour like in was slow or even as some would say retarded and this hurt me and my confidence i even at a point though that suicide was a option it was painful to go to that miserable excuse for a public educational building should be called hell for junior high students of Eden Texas

Y = mx+b doesnt teach me how to do anything but over think simple stuff. And "big words" are used to look down apon on the "uneducated". Whats the point of being "smarter" if im actually ignorant. Whats the point in being extra if my grandma can multiply any number in her head, her math was simple, but my generation has to do the craziest, most irrelavent stuff just to get 2 as our answer?

in my opinion education of the masses is the institution that fills us with fear for our superior and his motives, the institution that makes us all the product of the system we hate, I, mean race , religon, gender LGBT, and the constant ignorance of how our division is capitalised America. they want to take our minds, if you were an alien and you knew nothing about school, you saw how these children board the bus, how these subjects are being taught in masses, how me and other people in grade school are tested emotionally and mentally, how would you feel

this guy is true you see if we were really learning things that are hard Google wouldn't know the answer all they teach us is based of being good at opinions and make kids think they ain't smart for some reason that bias matters technically if you look at it vids way who needs to go to school to go to heaven. real school is good you need to learn like he said how to start off life but you see that's how they get you prove spend there time at school to learn and gain knowledge not false beliefs and by the way Columbus didn't discover America he just found that America was already discovered so to close off look at it this way yeah you should stay in school but even though they don't have like real bases in opinions they teach we learned everything we need to know in kindergarten how to eat how to write out name how to sing how to help with dishes the things in life we need to succeed aren't false reports or rivers we can't see it is just that life can decieve you to think that you need to learn how to be bias

I can't amen this song enough. Was just talking with my husband about this because we both wanted to pursue further education. And moreover we have one daughter and would have at least 3 more (as we both adore children) but for stressing how to pay for their "Western" education when the time comes. We just decided that we are going to trust God and not be limited by that. It's amazing how wonderful life can genuinely be when you drop the unbiblical Western mindset. We both had grants and paid our way through school but only God knows the future anyway. He has always provided and never let us down. Live simply and don't let success be measured in dollars.

Truth be told most students even teachers hate the education systems world wide. Especially the more rigid ones that have standardise testing. We all think differently and process in different ways. God knows half the time I don't know what I'm doing but I can stumble across a brilliant conclusion.

Let's look at the beginnings of science. Yes we have the scientific method but even in that MANY ACCIDENTAL discoveries were made. There used to be a lot more freedom. We need that back. That and more practical learning.

I think it's the use of the word 'beast' that is confusing you. Beast has multiple meanings. It can mean something massive, scary and intimidating (like God). But, certainly here in the UK, it can mean 'a person who is very good at something', as Urban Dictionary describes.

I actually have always learned much better through self-learning, usually by reading. Teachers are useful for the odd questions you may have, but I've never learned a whole lot in a classroom setting compared to on my own time. I think they need to get rid of note-writing. I can't pay attention to a teacher and fully understand what he's saying while I'm trying to keep up with notes at the same time. So they need to do one or the other in my opinion. Either just write notes and teach after/later or the item way around. Or just not to do notes at all and just give you them read.

I like the video's production and also the message behind it.  I do say though that, while this is a crippling effect, I think the teachers also play a part of that learning process of growth in a student.  When I was in college, I took a spanish course and teacher really beileved in his students.  So, whenever I stayed after school to ask him questions, he'd seem very interested in what you had to say and wanted you to learn and grow in Spanish.  Because of him, the teaching I had really stuck with me especially because i respected him and therefore wanted not to let him down or myself down.  If I would've kept it going, it would've been because of his encouraging teaching and the skills I obtained from it.

While the school system seems too mechanic in their learning practices, I think the teacher; especially how that teacher presents the information matter just as much.  Teachers that encourage students to learn and make them confide in you matters much more than a scantron, as you have said.

This video is so dope🔥. I wonder when society will wake up to see the clean cut facts are not all we really need. If knowledge were to be the destination for all we strive to be, we'd be walking encyclopedias and dictionaries. We need the arts and experiences you can't teach, you can't test how far our dreams will be.

I would add, that though Boards of Education have their own problems, the problems with public education don't reside primarily with them.  They reside primarily with the state and federal legislators and the "education" lobbyists who make the legislators into their puppets.  Boards of Education have to be federally and state compliant with law; standardized tests, AYP, etc are one of the most clear examples of how Boards have their hands tied.

To make it even more complicated, the push for project-based learning (PBL) is also a federal initiative.  So teachers, while responsible for students' standardized test scores rising a certain percentage, also need to implement PBL.  So your average public school teacher feels like they're being stretched on a medieval torture instrument between all the different responsibilities they're supposed to fulfill.  I would know.  I am one.

I'm not quitting.  I'm in the struggle.  I love what Propaganda has inspired in me through viewing this video, and I'll probably use it in my classroom as an inspiration and conversation piece.
