I used to love this song i used to bop to it as a kid. This could have been for the Go Gos, or Bangles back in the day it would have been a hit!!!! He did write manic monday it was a hit for them! I cant believe i had that poster of him in the shower wit cross on wall hangin in my room. I didnt think nothin of it. My mom ripped it up broke the record i was devistated. I even drew a mural on my wall of prince like 86 paisley park style with the Doves cry eyes, kid n balloon, white horse etc! Great times

Don't wanna compare to other songs, in a world where we compare too much.... so not sure if this is the best or not, what I can say this is such a perfect song... might be simple and linear, but who cares when it's that good and never makes you to get tired or skip it.
Dynamics, the swing, punchy, lyrics, funny, challenging, naughty, lovely melody and rythm, all that with the particular Prince's seal and that high tone voice that isn't usual but he does so good and fits perfectly on this. So.... just wow, love it!

I think it was Bobby Z or Matt Fink that told the story of how Prince wrote this. They were all going out to enjoy their day off from the tour and Prince said he was staying behind at the hotel to work on an idea. When they came back he had written this song.
