Chrissie's voice is always amazing, but this doesn't sound like the band, but electronically produced. And the lyrics aren't her best. Still love The Pretenders. Nobody's perfect.

The Pretenders should record a album without Chrissie. Would love to see Martin back on drums for a record and bring someone in who sings like she's still alive.

Pretty amazing after all these years Chrissy Hines is still operating under "The Pretenders" while she is really nearly the only original member of the band from the beginning, although Chambers was on the drums most of those years.

Only person back is Chrissie Hynde. I guess after her 2014 solo record she figures using "The Pretenders" label is a better moniker/seller.

She is the band, she owns it. Legally, she owns it. So, she can do as she likes with the band. She has literally run the band by herself ever since James Honeyman Scott died. He was a collaborative creative force, but after that, she pretty much controlled all aspects. At one point, she fired the whole lineup, that's when she hired those guys from a funk band to back her up. That lasted for about one tour.

Then she brought back some guys she's jammed with, toured with, or otherwise knew. Recently, she did another lineup shakeup, to get a fresh sound change, although it's always going back to the original idea of strong guitars, new wave rhythms, and Chrissie's great singing. So, there's nothing to be offended about how she does business, the Kinks are the same with Ray Davies, and many other bands, like the Van Halen Bros. hiring the rest of the crew, I mean half the famous bands are like this, it's not a big deal, or something to hate on.

I will always enjoy the Pretenders but not so much this song. I remember the passion and fire of their first few albums. This song is a slightly catchy, over produced, pop song with a wonderful vocalist.

Not certain I agree.  This is almost the same beat as "Don't get me wrong".

I love how Chrissy has taken a risk with this sound. I almost thought it was a younger female vocalist singing with her style but more energy. Interesting and catchy tune and its different to anything I've heard in a while. Great stuff!

Lloyd Johnson I love that she borrowed a visual aid style from Laurie Anderson - animated writing on a whiteboard. It works, in the Powerpoint era. We need more women who will state their mind, without worrying about a gun-totin’ dipshit being just around the corner (and you know who you are).

Which is funny because Garbage lifted from Pretenders' "Talk of the Town" on "Special" (they got Chrissie's permission). Now this sounds like Chrissie is lifting from the Garbage song that lifted from the Pretenders, haha.

I would imagine what Auerbach was thinking was that it's his job to do what the artist, Chrissie Hynde, tells him to.

Looks like the Pretenders are finally done. This song and video is fluff. They've never been fluff. They're one of the longest-standing makers of hard core realism rock going. I usually hold them up as examples of you can go 40 years and not lose your edge. This has no edge. I hope this isn't the end, but this isn't The Pretenders.

I'm hoping this is not indicative of the direction of the new album. I have to say I wasn't to crazy about her solo album with the Bjorn guy and the tour that followed. That must have been the worst live Pretenders that I ever heard; especially without Chambers in the line - up. Still can't understand why she didn't do another album with the "Breaking the Concrete" line- up; saw them live. Listen to live I London album that was the tightest Pretenders I ever heard.  Now with Auerbach  sounds like a real BMG marketing move. We'll see...
