Porcupine Tree - Bonnie The Cat Lyrics
Can't feel the pain that I expected
I still place keys in the ignition
I know what will be
One thought is stopping me from sleeping
I saw the future and it's breeding
Could be your last resort
Like gold against your soul
There are three things that I would die for
But I am sure you're not one of them
I know what will be
Could be your last resort
Like gold against your soul
[Whispered:]
You think you've got it all wrapped up now
You stumble on so unsuspecting
I know what will be)
I hold your birth control to ransom
The cells divide and grow inside you
I know what will be
I know what will be
I know what will be

Porcupine Tree Bonnie The Cat Comments
Best Valentines Day song, ever! 😆
A king Crimson video introduced me to Gavin Harrison which brought me to porcupine tree. Next stop pineapple thief
tutorial: /watch?v=XUA_n04C1bs
Am I the only one that thinks this song is inspired by Les claypool's song Tommy the Cat?
Hey Roadrunner Records. You should probably reupload this and fix the audio.
It's incredible that it's a 4/4 (!)
Gavin Harrison is currently the best drummer on this planet..............Hands down
incredible track! <3
01:00 That strip of metal over the eyes must come in handy with detail work.
Nice one, Asimov.
Why is it so fast? Way faster than the CD.
What is this beat ??!!!!!
How can someone sing on this ???!!!!!
hey guys, I just uploaded a drum cover of this band. if you want to watch it please go, if you like it subscribe! this something new that I'm doin. I'm starting but if you like the video and subscribe it's going to help me a lot! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kUd_wZ7jw2E
!!!!!!! !!!!!!! !!!!!!!
Gavin simply a gods special product, it's unbelievable stuff that no can't even imagine.
I'll die for u gavin
Bonnie the cat had many a story to tell.
But it was a rare occasion such as this that she did
Underrated comment
Tommy the Cat is my name...and I say unto Thee...(Beautiful & funny reference)
Say baby
Primus SUCKS.
Hey can anybody refer me to creepy/trippy songs like this, songs like sober by tool, or like angels in vertigo by black soul tribe. Please do not refer me to bands like trapt, korn, or any other emo/white trash bullshit, thank you.
Why is this song named bohnie the cat ?
say baby-

The best song of "The incident". Amazing vídeo!!..
detoxed off methadone to this. 6 listens + per day with my baby and we both got off clean. TOOL works for others but PT works for me :)
I actually like this version better
Did Adam Jones make this music video?
Why is this sped up?
Porcupine Tree does Djent better than djent bands.
meshuggah invented djent so shut the fuck up
ps : i love pt
This isnt even djent. Its just pure raw progressive rock/metal
I like this cause it resembles Karnivool somehow! My other fav is Circle of Manias cause it's so djenty :D And the joker is Time flies. That is so calming and nice.
If Chino and Maynard had a baby....
Very disappointed. I came here because we have a cat named Bonnie. Not only is the name "Bonnie" not mentioned in the song, there's nothing about cats.
RaananVolesPianist Then go and watch Mastodon - Asleep in the Deep, if you like cats you will like the video :)
Totally a Frank Zappa- Central Scrutinizer vibe to me!
The best part part is it's all in 4/4
i got that referece
No, it's 7/8 and 9/8 alternating. That's a big difference from straight up 4/4.
@Sound Gardener hey, congrats on being a total prick, You win.
@Lieutenant any beat can be written in any time signature ya know? It really just is what is most convenient and easy to understand. It's just math.
@Sugarsail1 From that reply I'm assuming you don't play the drums.
If I ever made a movie or video game this song would be the music for the end credits.
THE DRUM DUDE, HOLY FKIN DRUM
There are 3 things i would die for, but I am sure you are not one among them !!!! OMFG.. extreme hatred in one line ! Long live Steven Wilson :D
It may be sacrilege, but I put Gavin right up there with Neal.
i'm with ya
Neil is great but not better than Gavin!
Well Neal loves Gavin so that's neat.
Why is it called Bonnie the Cat?
Mister Kingdom listen to the guitar solos carefully, they sound like angry cats, especially in the section where it goes all djent.
I think that's why it is called Bonnie The Cat
Can't feel the pain that I expected
I still place keys in the ignition

One thought is stopping me from sleeping
I saw the future and it's breeding

Its quite obvious. WIlson's musical genius is best complemented by Gavin's beautiful drumming.
The Grand Conjuration at 3:48.
Glad you said that. I know a little bit of Opeth, but i'm friends with an Opeth superfan. This song (The CG) came on, and i said "oh, that's like Bonnie the Cat" to myself. Later i tried to bring up that some Opeth and PT riff was very similar, and he didnt know what i was talking about.
@Nicole Marie B. but didn't the Opeth TGC come out before Bonnie the cat?
Best Drums you'll ever hear on any form of music!!!
There's only one other band with these skills: Atomship, the album is called The Crash of '47. Pure art, just like these guys...
OSI is another band with skills. Gavin Harrison drums on two of their albums, and Steven Wilson sings in the song Shutdown.
strange
Okay, this has been bothering me but I swear the bridge sounds exactly like the chorus from The Grand Conjuration by Opeth
I assume this is Porcupine tree answer to Sober
Suicidal Grooves Nope, Even though it is sort of similar, Gavin Harrison and Steven Wilson Wrote the Song but not based on any Tool. Steven Wilson is Very Ambient and has concepts. Steve was very into Beach Boys, Iron Maddin, Pink Floyd and Metallica. this is His own work based on those bands besides tool.
just learned this drum beat. One of my favorite jams :D
Djeven Wils0n
it's no coincidence that Schism by Tool has shown up in the recommendations for this video
For me its The Pot, Parabola, and Right in Two!
Song is great, and as usual Gavin's drumming is just fucking incredible ! Without a doubt the best drummer !
4:55.. dead..
This band, I think, is a cross between Tool, Shpongle, and Pink Floyd. Tasty.
bit of karnivool at times
@Venus Productions I know this is 2 years old, but for anyone who reads this it is incorrect! Steven put Lateralus as one of his album's of the year for 2001, along with SoaD's Toxicity.
@SteveFrench tbh in recent years I had learned that he had in fact liked tool. I guess my more naive self was a little bit too gullible.
@Venus Productions I think people overplay the Tool influence in PT anyway. The most prominent influence on In Absentia and FoaBP would be Nine Inch Nails - The Fragile.
@SteveFrench other than Crosby Stills and Nash and Pink Floyd that is lol
My brain gets all sweaty when I listen to the drums.
PT gets all TOOLed up.
How do you take that as an insult ? both bands are great don't get your nikkers in a twist
Piyush Stoicist I believe he is comparing Portnoy with Gavin, not the video. Which is spot on.
Akshay Sinha: You might have it a bit mixed up there; Mike Portnoy is Dream Theater's drummer, Danny Carey is Tool's drummer. But yeah, Gavin is incredible and so is Danny. And so are their respective bands of course.
@Piyush Clearly you haven't seen Tool's music videos at the time.
Sure, sure... 03:49 - 04:23 is total and utter genius, I was on the edge of my seat, what a BIT though!
*_EUNGH! EUNGH! EUNGH! EUNGH! EUNGH! EUNGH! EUNGH! EUNGH! EUNGH! EUNGH! EUNGH! EUNGH! EUNGH! EUNGH! EUNGH!_*
That's prog right there folks.
Excellent soundtrak , each instrument harmonizes with the rest. Pure harmony, perfekt cooperation - form a whole. As in the orchestra, there is no more important and the less important because every detail (musicians, instruments, vocals) form unified the final effect - you just have to know how to listen... I personally think that the albums, songs PT and S.W. They are excellent, inspiring, important, needed, just fucking cool...
Intro always reminds me of Silent Hill 2 game
Dante Spicuzza dude totally
Indeed it does...
A lot of Porcupine Tree songs can remind you of Silent Hill, because both Steven Wilson and Akira Yamaoka inspired by the same music.
Did they have to change the key of this song or something? It sounds off >3>
It's sped up slightly from the recorded version. Album version is 5:45
Roadrunner Records showed us why they were named like "roadrunner" by making this song faster.
I can't believe how awesome the drummer is
GH was the BEST Drummer that PT have had !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Gavin Harrison. One of my many favourite drummers. GET INTO HIM!
King Crimson: not a den of satanists in the _slightest._
Stevo the devo isn't dodgy in the slightest either...(don't worry; no one's paying attention anyway, and even if they were, they've got no idea what's they're seeing)
@fpjesus vanvggcg ggcv78uhuv8vguyuvuvuuvvvcfvbvcddvvfc vcvggcffxvoch7ghgvbghvvbvvhhgfxffxct vcvggcffxvoch7ghgvbghvvbvvhhgvhhbggygfxffxctggv yhhggggggggfggyvgg7fggg ggggggg8ggvgfg7g8cv ggg7gg
Steven: So, what time signature shall we do this one in?
Gavin: Yes.
reminds me of Tim Burton's Number 9
Very steampunk
I guess they hired the same music video team as tool
+Jeff Dickinson You mean Adam Jones of Tool? ;D
Or it may be the other way around.
Roy Boltz what? Lol
Adam Jones the guitarist of Tool makes their music videos
Hardly likely - Lasse Hoile works on most of Steven Wilson's material if not the likes of Jess Cope, Hajo Muller and Carl Glover.
amazing song and drums too
the video is also amazing ,reminds Tool !
worst song on the album
+zeds dead ...and you are the worst actor in hollywood
Most intense drums I've heard.
Guns of Summer by Coheed and Cambria.
Makes this drum track sound completely calm.
I never thought Chris Penny was great, though.
He's pretty technically impressive, but just doesn't pull the music together like Harrison does.
In fact, I always thought the drums on Guns of Summer sound almost artificial.
Barry Muth I want to learn that fucking groove, it is awesome.
@Nathaniel Whitman That's why they stand out above the rest of my favourite drummers. They're unorthodox and technical as hell, yet can never be accused of playing for anything other than the music.
You shouldn't listen to Tool. Maynard fucks kids. Challenge you to GO & DISPROVE ME WRONG.
I mean...you know what I mean. Okay go and listen to _"Silly Little Love Songs"_ and, especially, _'Indigo Children.'_ With headphones. Loud. (Lovely piss-take of Boheniam Rhapsody too you bald midget spooky occult / disinfo victim-perp fuckface, Gaytard).
Then go and revisit Lachrymology, after reading this:
http://www.kabbalah.info/eng/content/view/frame/86730?/eng/content/view/full/86730&main
PS: Don't worry if none of the above makes sense once you've been through it all. Who am I kidding, as if you're gonna bother, haha. Too hard basket, thinking for yourself 'n all that. Maynard even covered that Devo song about using your fuckin' brain...mngh. Aah it's so easy being a spook on Planet of the Sub-Apes.
what album is this off please.
+Simon Crawford the incident
Knight Rider.
+Antony G
Ha! I get it.
Tool influenced :)
+Isaías Sosa
Not hearing Tool on this.
+Russ Wilson i think he means the video, which kind of resembles tool but... Meh
I think he just means it sounds like Tool
@roy_for_real No dude, the video is straight up in the style of Adam Jones' work. It's pretty obvious. And Porcupine Tree has stated Tool as an influence musically as well. I hear Tool in this definitely, but not as much as on other Porcupine Tree songs. Deadwing and In Absentia had lots of Tool in them.
I don't think in absentia sounds like tool but deadwing does. in absentia is more opeth.
faster than normal?
+drummerxx1 yeah, it's because that way is less video lenght... comercial business...
Or they changed the speed to dodge YouTube's system that catches copyright stuff by reading the audio in the video and comparing it to the record. A slight change in speed will desync it from the record
But it's uploaded by their company... Anyway. I don't know why they did it, but I want to hear it the way the band intended!
I can't believe SW let this fly, he cannot even stand the idea of people listening to his songs on phones.
The pitch is shifted.
nice one gavin god damn!
Gavin ur a gods special product, thanks gav
This video deserves a better quality
this song literally makes me want to have sex and then kill myself while doing it
@Jonas No I'm not. I graduated clown collage with honors.
doesn't make it any less adorable that you need to insult strangers on the internet that haven't done anyone any wrong to feel smart :)
*you're
+The WHITE WOLFF calling someone a "stupid consumer" and then telling them to shut up and buy stuff.....yeah you really thought that one through. Sorry to inform you but you're actually a waste of space mate :/ akward
I think "consumer" has taken on a whole new meaning, there is now a delineation between "Free Consumer" and "Paid Consumer". Both consume products, one gives legal reciprocity, the other does not. So his initial declaration of not being a free consumer and remedying that by buying the album, is not only pro Porcupine Tree, but pro for good music in general.
Your statement: "Sorry to inform you but you're actually a waste of space mate :/ akward (sic)" is also accurate, even more so after he responded.
Great stuff . . . anyone who enjoys this should check out Tomahawk . . . mmmm-mmmm good.
Mmmm Mike Patton all day
Saw them open for tool
pesaillos!!
Gavin H ..y u sooo goooot!!
Awesome tune based around Gavin's brilliant drumming. LOVE IT!
This is basically "Prison Sex" part two right down to the creepy rape lyrics.
Nah the lyrics don't have anything to do with rape. I think it's just like, sex addiction and he gets a girl pregnant and even though he doesn't give a shit about the girl he screwed he can't stop thinking about the kid growing inside her.
@lolh4x Nah, it deals with women who are obsessed to control man, they will use their charm and beauty to their advantage but at the end of the day that beauty will decay... and also there will be men that see beyond their bullshit and will leave these girls alone.
listen to Steven talking about the lyrics of The Incident album on youtube. It's about his ex girlfriend.
Take a chill pill Bill.
who cares if the music remind tool fucking retards
Sounds like it's been shifted into a higher key
Noticed he said 'complement' not 'compliment' I suggest all you people who down-voted him get a dictionary
It's only 110 bpm lol XD
dafuq.... this is way to fast :(
Not really... I mean it sounds a bit odd in the beginning, but once you wrap your ears around it, it's actually quite easy to hear that it's in 4/4 time. Awesome song, anyway
Wicked! is that stopmotion?
I'm sorry, but no. I love Tool, it's one of my fav bands and Maynard is a genius, but Steven Wilson moves on another level of genius. One that Maynard has never reached.
I'm sorry, but the compliment would be to Porcupine Tree.
I'm sure Tool will take such nice complement
connie the bat
This song just makes you think about time...What if I told you it was entirely in 4/4? Hard to believe, right?
Primus Sucks!
Cheers!
I had so much fun creating this rhythmic design! Cheers
exactly!
I have a dog named Bonnie
This one's pitched...
Les Claypool and Steven Wilson aren't really comparable. They are both outstanding musicians. Their lyrics actually make sense. Other music of today isn't like that.
Steven is more emotional than Les.
Les is more political than Steven.
They both do their own things in music, and they are on my top 5 favorite solo artists.
WTH happened with the audio? it's like +2 semitones up :s
R2ROrancid IKR!
