Police, The - Synchronicity II Lyrics
Another suburban family morning.
Grandmother screaming at the wall.
We have to shout above the din of our Rice Crispies
We can't hear anything at all.
But we know all her suicides are fake.
Daddy only stares into the distance
There's only so much more that he can take.
Many miles away something crawls from the slime
At the bottom of a dark Scottish lake.
Another industrial ugly morning
The factory belches filth into the sky.
He walks unhindered through the picket lines today,
The secretaries pout and preen like cheap tarts in a red light street,
But all he ever thinks to do is watch.
And every single meeting with his so-called superior
Is a humiliating kick in the crotch.
Many miles away something crawls to the surface
Of a dark Scottish loch.
Another working day has ended.
Only the rush hour hell to face.
Packed like lemmings into shiny metal boxes.
Contestants in a suicidal race.
Daddy grips the wheel and stares alone into the distance,
He knows that something somewhere has to break.
He sees the family home now looming in his headlights,
The pain upstairs that makes his eyeballs ache.
Many miles away there's a shadow on the door
Of a cottage on the shore
Of a dark Scottish lake
Many miles away [7x]

Llevo 13 horas viendo videos,,, jajaja,,, es de locos,,, lo máximo,,, y sigoooooo,,, adorados años 80s
Alguien escuchando a estos genios de la música 2020?
Sting channeling his inner Billy Idol...
The Gittler guitar was a nice touch!
andys guitar solos in the music videos always kill me ahhaa theyre so frikin funny
one of their coolest music videos...all three, andy, stew, and sting, look SOOO COOL here!!! i love the dystopian set pieces with the musical instruments theyre standing on and how aggressive all of them are ahaha LOVE it !!!!
Definitivamente amo esta agrupacion
Y me ancanta escucharla con mi hijo ahora
Sting With very cool hair like Billy Idol! 😀
みんな尖ってていいなぁ
Sting doing his BEST Billy Idol Impression - or is that the other way around 🤔?
Stuart Copeland beating them drums like an abusive parent to a child!
The Maz...
That’s what i like Police !!!
Everything is perfect
Awesome band 👍👍👍
Brilliant just brilliant wish it could play for ever
Love this song !!!!
I am police's son
Who’s watching this in 2020?
Miss the days I could veg out for hours watching cool MTV videos.
The 80's will live on 4ever here on YouTube! LOLLLLL! It makes you wish you had all the 80's hits on several cds!
I can't believe this hit is almost 40 years old now and it still rocks. The best song on Synchronicity. I was 18 in 1983 when this came out. The lyrics are still relevant in 2020. What a rock jam!
This could be my favourite Police Song. So powerful and driving.
Why does Sting look like billy idol
I have just watched the Message in the Bottle promo video before this and I can tell you . ITS MUCH BETTER THAN THIS PRETENTIOUS CRAP.
The mood of this music video is giving me Mad Max vibes!
Sting looks so high in this video 🤣
Many miles away!
Near Boleskine House, one would assume.
Who made that background, i will give him a big trophy
Ah the 80's, when the apocalypse looked like tinsel glued to incomprehensibly useless configurations of scaffolding.
Police and the jam ,one thing in common ,they both quit while at there peak (also 3in the band).
so much crap, as it wasn't going to end up in Sting's face 0:53
Synchronicity was The Police's last lp of the 80's and I hated to see them go! Sting wanted to go solo!
The Police made the COOLEST videos in the 80's that wlll live forever. 2 bad they are no longer 2gether! They were the coolest band of the 80's.
Saw them and Huey Lewis on the same ticket in Seattle early 70’s I think. Odd pairing
Monsterface Sting!
My fun fact: 1990, Back when we got to the Port of Damon, we were pushed out of the Port and gave an area to occupy off of a road called MSR Dodge. And, while in convoy, we stopped at a safe refuel point and, I glanced at the cost of the gallon gas. $.23 cents! But, were only getting diesel and our Army refuel trucks are doing us but, I go inside the gas station to get whatever and I buy a carton of cigarettes(with a lighter attached) that expired in 1988 and I see that there is new music on the counter and I buy synchronicity the police and Loose ends and a Chinese Laundry Reggae cassette tape. And the other ones pop but the police hang in there and I rock it out for 6 months in the desert and I have been faithful since. 26 year's later, I find the same cassette. I swear, I need to write a book about the moment but then I have to go and put on the red light.....
Andy summer bestial.. los adoro sting eres bestial Copeland que maestria
Exelencia pura
And with that, The Police called it quits.
I am having Dune flashbacks
I remember watching Mtv , thought this was the coolest music video
Love this one by The Police!
I want the 80s AND my MTV back!
Andy Sumner, Gordon Sting, Steward Copeland. One badass trio! They ruled the 80s!
Dark room and let her rip!!! So much busy amazing music in this cut!
This is so me
It's so complicated times these days. You're there, and I know history is saved and you in this way, save us, like Baby Yoda, in real time. So much love to you, THE GREATEST! 💕
This is their best song ! 👍👍👍👍👍
Saw them at capital center in Maryland back in 83 /84 something like that. I'm 57 now. Many miles away in time. Sucks to get old. Young people enjoy your life to the fullest. But nicely to each other.. tomorrow is not guaranteed, and time moves so fast.
2.2 in 2020 mentioned synchronicity yesterday and getting to know it. Think police and sting growing on me.
Lovely Feyd.
What is making the shadow on the door, of the cottage on the shore of a dark Scottish lake?
You guessed it:
Frank Stallone
I love them since 1979!
Sting, with his eyes wide open, looks like Dr. Emmet L. Brown.
*EVERYBODY was trying to look like Mad Max in the 80s!*
"Two Tribes" by Frankie Goes to Hollywood was inspired by Mad Max II.
"Wild Boys" video by Duran Duran borrowed a lot from the Mad Max idea.
"Love is a Battlefield" by Pat Benetar. Hookers looked like Mad Max extras!!
*LOL!!*
Pretty much any 80s music video that looked dystopian was probably inspired
by Mad Max! Including Sting's ode to Jung in "Synchronicity II" by the Police!
Still a good video... clever use of high-speed camera for the "many miles away" bits.
Love the album. Good song. Horrible video.
This group and this song was The Shit !!!! In the 80's
My JET SKI song!
Soda Stereo "no existes"https://youtu.be/OvMAmFz20e4
Sting - 'I think I'm the devil' Stewart 'No Sting, your just an a**hole' Love that story
Despite Sting playing Billy Idol doing a pastiche of Wild Boys and Mad Max, one of the Police’s best songs
Why does Sting look like he’s fresh out of playing Feyd?
Yeah Feyd was the first thing I thought of. Maybe he was? Cant wait for the new Dune, I've never been so hyped.
Because he was filming next door...?
@Yairo Martis Was he though? I just can't be arsed to google it. Shitty video, looks like the same stylist who did that wild boys video for Duran Duran. Should have snuck back next door and filmed on Lynch's sets.
"Many miles away,
there's a shadow on the door,
of a cottage on the shore
of a dark Scottish lake"
Sting is such a great lyricist. What imagery
The closest The Police got to heavy metal. Sting is enjoying himself waaaay too much here - he looks totally demonic. His ego at the top of its arc back in '83 as The Police were sitting pretty on top of the world. Andy Summers is having a ball in this video swinging his guitar above his head, smashing them and hamming up his playing like a heavy metal God. Great song, fabulous energy.
SSJ2 Sting looks OP as fuck
if you did not brake miterly law make a feel of it cecse 20(365day)year befor on meda /england said too him your invesment now or wate get some //inc of krean war invesment -so they did it (wdiz some how got hellfire missile personal emgince (inc)code /treaty breaker hide court ruels/preess relast on time //im shore (WHITE HOUSE )phone call too russa is wate all wanted ?//jinnah khan me just finnsh putting up phoneline
So my question is: why they dressed him as Billy Idol?
Thought that was billy idol at first. Then Sting begins to sing
Classic. Check out the environmental theme in the lyrics and the video. With the wildfires burning the entire continent of Australia and climate reality drowning the historic city of Venice, what do you guys think about the music industry uniting at this time to bring awareness to climate change and playing this song for a very good cause? Could be bigger than Live Aid . . . . Pretty please. Now is the time. If not now, when?
I suddenly felt nostalgic because they are not young anymore. I'm 19 😂
One of their best songs! Still friggin awesome 40 years later! Today's garbage music is many miles away!
727 fans de Paulo Londra o de alguna tortilleta con ínfulas de rockera furiosa.
Isn't that Feyd Rautha Harkonnen singing?
The music has got a hold of me ! 🤪😜🤪😜🤪😜🤪😜🤪😜🤪😜🤪😜🤪😜🤪😜🤪😜🤪😜🤪😜😜😜🤪
Always felt Synchronicity I was the better song
The 80s were SPECIAL
fucking sexy Sting !!!!
this video makes me want to eat an entire bin of chipped ham icecream !!!
he looks like malcolm mcdowell of star trek
dreadful.
The best and most descriptive lyrics of any Police song. The second stanza paints such a clear picture of the workday that it's almost like it's there in front of you. "And every single meeting with his so-called superior is a humiliating kick in the crotch." Who hasn't gone through this in his or her life?
Still going thru it
"we know all the suicides are fake"
☺2020
Great song, horrible video. I watched them touring this album, it was awesome.
The Police was so ahead of their time. Even bands like Rush took notice and tried to imitate them.
@Mr. Blutarsky Thier first two albums were recorded and released in the late seventies and I consider them to have been their best
@TheHumbuckerboy I know when they released their albums. Having had albums in the late '70s has nothing to do with their music being a definition of the '80s music scene. Nine Inch Nails released music in the late 80s. Are you gonna tell me that NIN didn't have a part in defining '90s music?
There wouldn't have been U2 (as we knew them at their best) without The Police. Even Joni Mitchel admitted that she wanted to incorporate The Police's sound into her own music at one point ... check out her excellent song 'Fiction' as a good example.
@ Mr Blutarsky ... Of course The Police were massively influential during the 80s but my point was that they were already opening doors by creating ground-breaking music in the late 70s.
@TheHumbuckerboy I like songs like 'Dead End Job' but to me they are path stones to their destination
And people wonder why I'm so obsessed with the 1980's...silly rabbits. 😎
they were SPECIAL
god I love this song
THE POLICE...SUPER STARS....CLASSIC FOREVER.STING..ANDY ..STUART GENIALES.
Looks like this video and the lyrics predicted global climate change decades earlier!
Can't falsetto to save a life but nailed this at Karaoke first and only try.
Not to engage in idle braggery, but idle it be.
Andy Summers - the most underrated guitar magician ever!
I've played for 25 years and more. Andy has a lot of credibility in the guitarist world, maybe not so much the shredders but the good song writers all love him.
He can right some bad ass stuff. I'd love to get his Fender Monochrome but 12K, ouch.
Another person with the “underrated” comment. Next thing you’ll post is John Entwistle was an underrated bass player.
yep, kicks ass
Sting as Feyd Rautha here.
what a Band!
remember how sad I was when I heard they split
SUPPORT&LOVE FROM 🇮🇹
Incredible song - wish they would've taken advantage of all the great "visuals" the lyrics provided, for the video...
The Police the great Band, Una banda que hizo historia, recuerdos desde Lima, Peru.
billy idol
Is this that Mel Gibson movie with those freaks in the desert looking for oil?
NO !!!!! This was fresh off of Sting doing the movie "DUNE".....
Actually they were looking for gasoline.
@Coy Leigh For the spice melange 🤣
No it's some other dystopian-wasteland tomfoolery
In 3 years, this will be 40 years old and it's still badass
"But Every measly so-called superior religion...Is a humiliating kick in the crotch". Genius. amjmetaltomotown
@Cookie's crumbsSo, "Every so-called superior religion - Is a humiliating kick in the crotch" has nothing to do with religion? What is the non-religious you refer to? AMJ
Albert Mojica,Jr. - I’m only saying religion is not mentioned in the song.
...and every single meeting with his so-called superior...is a humiliating kick in the crotch...
@Cookie's crumbs l merely "quoted" a very specific reference (obviously) to and regarding or disregarding "religion". How anyone could possibly believe or conclude that religion is somehow absent altogether regarding said "verbatim" quote,
is beyond me. With all due respect.
Note: That (former) vocalist/bass player Gordon Sumner aka Sting - Is the son of an evangelist. amjmetaltomotown
@Cookie's crumbs Cookie's crumbs. I have replayed this composition and duly noted that the referenced/aforementioned verbatim quote: Is, otherwise, [A] separate opinion and/or statement offered by the lyrical content and composer. Enjoy your 2020. AMJ
@Cookie's crumbs The song "Invisible Sun" (son) by The Police may shed some more light upon this difference of opinion.
I can only guess, as any and everyone else, who and that, otherwise, did not "lyrically" compose the song in question.
Concider. amjmetaltomotown
Its a humiliating kick in the crotch
The police...
Beyond thunderdome
I used this in my high school freshman English classes to teach simile and metaphor. What exactly IS crawling from the slime at the bottom of a dark Scottish loch? Actually better for the purpose was "King of Pain" which presents a series of metaphors, then tells you what each means. "There's a flag-pole rag and the wind won't stop. That's my soul up there." Fantastic band.
https://youtu.be/593_RAHV7qs
sting showing his adoration for CROWLEY and the occult .
