Police, The - Fall Out Lyrics
I never thought of leading
I've got my own machine
And I've paid my dues all along
All set for breaking
When I missed those other people
Fall out
Fall out with all the leaders and gangs
Fall out
Fall out with all the leaders and gangs
I saw my education
It was my indoctrination
Just to be another parking machine
All my sense was breaking
Cause I knew that I was not very clean
Fall out
Fall out with all the leaders and gangs
Fall out
Fall out with all the leaders and gangs
Fall out!

Police, The Fall Out Comments
sounds like Rush
I bought this single in 1978 when visiting England! How I wish I still had it.
First time I heard this was when it accompanied the open of a drama where a man gets gang raped in Paris. Many. many years later I found it here on YouTube
Love this song, not very known but great punk rock one.
i love early police
This song was written by Copeland.
The New York Police Dolls
Sting called this song "3 O'clock Shit"
This is the first song I ever played live when I was in my early teens and still have a really intense Pavlovian response whenever I hear it.
Still diggin' Sting's Telnyashka!
Better this ☝🏻
January 1977: Sting was playing vague jazz, fusion, funk, in Newcastle, with his band Last Exit. In February 1977 the band moved to London to play some gigs and hopefully get some recognition. That same month Sting joined The Police and recorded this. Wow, what a leap he endured!!

Nadie se acuerda de Padovani 😭😭😭
claro que si si es re punk el loco !!
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henry_Padovani
Funny how some people are commenting that Andy Summers is "better" than Henry Padovani.. they sound no different at all. Listen to the early Police stuff with Summers - it sounds just like this. Summers started sounding different later on, but so did their music overall.
👍👍👍👍👍
I think it was mantini...but it was deffo henry or henri
super morceau,viva la corsica!!!
Who else came here looking for a font like Fallout's? ^^
Sting voce, basso - Stewart Copeland batteria, chitarra ritmica - Henry Padovani chitarra solista
Padovani is pretty good but no where good as Summers......No where.........Summers is a very underrated guitarist........
This is actually Stewart Copeland playing all guitar parts except for the short solo.
They only gave him 12 bars to jam on, otherwise he would go forever. Being a jam band guy I wish I could have heard where it would have gone
Anthony Kiedis brought me here!
What's the connection? Him and Sting are two of my favorite singers of all time
Same 🙌
@No One he wrote in his biography he and flea were doing cocke to this song
Is it just me or did they just go downhill from here? I love the band, saw them several times and love every era and album but this song captures an energy they never quite had again.
because the drummer had to be sedated after 1977--haha
And addictive, cant stop play it :)
Cool song :-)
I actually liike the ska style cover
Percebe link?
great stuff!
I used to think The Police was the blandest band ever but with this Henry Padovani they were really psychedelic and cool.
The moment Sting shouts Henry's name, it will always remind me of the one recurring moment in those old (golden age) cartoons where a woman shouts the first name of Henry Aldrich!
And you can tell why Henry Padovani didn't last long... when Andy Summers joined and eventually replaced him, the group played just two gigs as a quartet! Andy Summers was not only 10 years older than Henry (and Stewart Copeland), but since he also played with groups as far back as The Animals, he was obviously a much better and adept guitarist.
That good.......Illegal records, Produced by Stewart Copeland+Bazza
after all these years sting should bring it out... at least a b-side. listen to all that so called punk rock bullshit radio crap thats trying to impress people and never can... well this is like a punch in ya face. and they werent even having a record deal then.
Dude sooo epic
very good for their first song 10/10
"Fall Out", the first single release by the English new wave rock band The Police, originally released in May 1977 and then re-released in 1979. Personnel:
Sting – bass, vocals
Henry Padovani – guitar
Stewart Copeland – drums, guitar, producer
https://youtu.be/4Av29Jp8Ryk
Happy birthday Stewart!
I'd trade this for the entire rest of the Police's repertoire...
it seems that Stewart was the one that played guitar in this song. Padovani played only the short solo after sting calls "Heeenrii".
awesome!
Henry: "Coming, mother!"
Not bad this they seemed to get worse after this!
a fucking killer tune , straight ahead and simple !!!
Either that's Stewart Copeland in the middle or Stephen Hawking finally figured out time travel.
now I cant stop picturing Stephen Hawking behind the drums in this session
HAHAHAHAHA
Joey Ramone possibly?
samuel stern thats haliarious some funny shit id be rolling on the floor if I had more beers right on Sam ha ha ha ha ha ha
Oomph lol
yep...pre andy summers. they sure traded up when they got him
Rusty, I agree. It's also possible that it, like many other performances, was on a tape that got erased for other shows instead.
i don't know, - i mean yes! andy's frickin' awesome! but in this song, the guitar is just as it should be!
Not really. I've never heard this song before, but he seems about on the same level as Summers. The only difference is that Summers has more of an odd style, which might have been what they were looking for.
Except on this recording that’s actually Stewart Copeland playing all guitar parts except for the short solo.
@Rusty Kuntz They did two shows as a four-piece. Henry was gone after the second.
henry......you are the man!
"Fall Out"
I never thought of leading
I've got my own machine
And I've paid my dues all along
All set for breaking
When I missed those other people
Cause I knew that I was really alone
Fall out
Fall out with all the leaders and gangs
Fall out
Fall out with all the leaders and gangs
I saw my education
It was my indoctrination
Just to be another parking machine
All my sense was breaking
When I missed those other people
Cause I knew that I was not very clean
Fall out
Fall out with all the leaders and gangs
Fall out
he says "just to be another cog in machine", as in "Someone or something that is functionally necessary but of small significance or importance within a larger operation or organization"
I never followed leaders
I've got my own team
And I've paid my dues all along
Always had to fake it
When I mixed with other people
'Cause I knew that I was really alone
Fall out, fall out all the leaders and gangs
Fall out, fall out all the leaders and gangs
I sold my education
It was my indoctrination
Just to be another cog in the machine
Always had to fake it
When I mixed other people
'Cause I knew that I was not very clean
Fall out, fall out all the leaders and gangs
Fall out, fall out all the leaders and gangs
Fall out, fall out all the leaders and gangs
Fall out, fall out all the leaders and gangs
Henri!
Fall out, fall out all the leaders and gangs
Fall out, fall out all the leaders and gangs
Fall Out!
gustavo, I would say "Close, but no cigar," but that's not even close. Cog in the machine has too many syllables. Good call on 'Henri' though; I always thought Gordon mangled 'all right.'
Love Sting forever
When Sting gives Henry the cue for his guitar solo, I'd think: "Coming, Mother!"
I never followed leaders , I've got my own scene and I paid my own dues all alone
I always had to fake it when I mixed with other people 'cos I knew that I was really alone,
Chorus
I saw my education , it was my indoctrination just to be another cog in machine,
I always had to fake it when I mixed with other people 'cos i knew that i was not very clean
Chorus.
Ad lib to fade...
love this - this was the start of my love affair with The Police x
Wow... I was beginning to wonder if The Police ever recorded anything remotely punk sounding... this is definitely the closest
Medalion look for Dead End Job from them. More punk.
@pumasgoya DEAD END JOB IVE GOT THAT ONE THE B SIDE OF THE ORIGINAL RELEASE OF CANT STAND LOOSING YOU. YEA DEF MORE PUNK SOUNDING
This is punk from the police and have more songs like this.
Incredible original "Police" the 70s
Tosser that he is, Sting is a SHIT-HOT bass player.
Speed 1.25 = The police Live
+Oldgames1000 One of the most truthful comments from YouTube hahahahahahaha
so fuckin punk man, great
Oh yea, when they played this live it was almost 3 times faster, sounded like a different song. This was their first ever single before they had the record deal w A&M. Henry Padovani on guitar, NO Andy yet.
Most of the guitar on this track was played by Stewart. True.
speed 1.75 = those drums sound like Motorhead.
Reminds me of thrash metal
@BIGZERO It's the speed of the song
Listening to it again not getting thrash metal punk ya that's what was goin on back then
+Green Razor i could see Floatsom and Jetsom covering it. sure
Punk, not metal. Metal's for dopes.
"Fallout"
Plz, Fallout fans don't.
+Emolga ♂ fall out boy, the fallout games, this song, all have fallout, i like fallout
What if this was the original fallout song?
+water_king1 "Fallout" by The Weirdos might've been first
Fallout great Italian HC Punk Band
Pure class!
I only hope someone releases a complete collection of non-album/rare tracks by the Police. Message in a Box is "remastered" horribly, and is missing tracks.
I TAKE BACK WHAT I SAID, the remastering in Message in a Box is PERFECT.
@NotOrdinaryInGames Are you sure?
@Al B I was, now I realized I was full of shit when I wrote that. Did not know too much about remastering vs amplifying.
@NotOrdinaryInGames Still thinking about getting Message in a Box, although I have all five of there albums....hmmmmmm
@Al B If you want all the albums and all "regular" b-sides, Message in a Box has it all, plus a short book of band's history, photos, and commentary about pretty much every b-side. I know SOMETHING is coming in a year, with "unheard tracks", but Message in a Box sounds great, and perhaps better than whatever "remastered" thing they have coming.
It sounds really cool, even without Andy, Henry Padovani was a good guitar player, but next to the amazingly talented Sting and Copeland they needed an out of the charts guitar player like Summers... Good that Sting insisted to S.Copeland to have Andy as the only one on guitar... One of the best bands of all times. And for me SC. one of the three best drummers of the 80's era!
who are the other 2?
@***** NO, who are the other two best drummers of the 80s?
+unabonger777 that would have to be Tony Williams and Steve Gadd
according to what i read, Copeland played rythm guitar in Fall Out. Henri played only the short solo part, from 1:23 to 1:36.
cool song love it
Thanks for posting!
Sydney, Australia
lol, i was looking for that comment!
i knew someone would comment about that!! i am reading scar tissue and i wanted to look up the song to check it out and see if anyone would say that lol
Anthony Kiedis & Flea shooting coke at age 18
Kzoo7MI that’s why I’m here too lol
pure energy!
In the 70's they were and are one of the few bands that got better with age too
jazz music for fallout 3? bitch please
the police were punk???
Of course!!
I have this 45! probably paid $2 for it.
Wow! This is fabulous. I never knew until recently that The Police debuted in 1977 when I always thought it was 1979. Therefore, I don't have any of these very nice albums of theirs here from 1977 and must buy them. This 1977 album and others, I must buy or I will never forgive myself.
The albums started in 1978
Pablo Malaga I’m pretty sure that So Lonely, Roxanne and Can’t Stand Losing You originally came out in 1978 and tanked. Strange how a year later the same singles became big hits, especially Can’t Stand Losing You, which reached number 2.
The Police are perhaps at least to me the best musicians group probably ever; Too bad they broke up.
@MattHatter punk rock is greatness, you make it sound like punk rock is bad.the police had started out as a punk rock band and were so good;almost everyone liked them.
Geez even back "then" this stuff rocked and sounded amazing!
@JVanC4tania I leaved the guitar in the placard?? What does that mean?
i got this for 50p in woolworths!
@REDILLINGER73 like it.. i have number 1079... sory is Sting and Stuart Copeland hand stamped them (red ink) in Copelands bedsit or flat. only 2000 were first pressed.
Did you know that this was not the first issue of this single? the first 2000 of this single had the same sleeve but purple/blue in colour and were all hand stamped by Sting and Copeland in Copelands London bedsit/flat back in 1977. i have one of these in my collection, along with the 'Sixpack' and all the police badge shaped vinyl singles.. if anyone is interested i am going to sell my collection... which includes lots of Police paraphernalia... annuals, monthly magazine etc etc.. mail me...
PUNK ROCK!!!!
I WISH THE POLICE DID ALOT MORE OF THIS PUNK STYLE.THEY WERE JUST REALLY GOOD AT IT AND THIS PUNK ROCK EDGE WAS MORE ABRASSIVE TO THE COMMON SAFE SOCIETY MORONS.
henry padovani is a french guitar player, he comes from Bastia like Napoleon ^^
primer cancion de the police que escuche en mi vida 1978.dos guitarras andy & henry padovani
primer cancion de the police que escuche en mi vida 1978
@Kobeownzu81 I don't think Summers had to "sacrifice" much to strum those reggae rhythms... cus the chords and progressions he chose to play were still very technical (and brilliant). I get the feeling that he wanted to make approachable music -- and I love how the guitar snaps into reggae on so many different tracks -- but the technical skill was always there, under the surface.
this was one of the last songs i get to know from the police
but in this case: last but not least
This song is fucking awesome. ESPECIALLY the guitar in this <3
henri Padovani has a great website and is doing really well.
They were more or less always a rip off. Even when they started.
andy is the weakest link. stink can play lead even better.
