Poison The Well - Slow Good Morning Lyrics

There are bodies strewn all over my bedroom floor,
I don't know how they got there but I'm sure,
it's the fuckers in their ships
Taunting everyone who walks by as they sail through my front door
Through my bedroom window, not a window at all
but a hole that peasant left with his cannonball
They look so pretty
Pretty weak to have let it go on this long
There are still bodies thrown on my bedroom floor,
I don't know how they got there but I have a plan now
So they say we aren't really here
so don't just try to punish us,
you are the one who has lost his mind
We didn't bring the bodies, we couldn't throw them on your floor
We didn't bring the bodies, we didn't throw them on your floor
You are the one who has lost his mind
They look so pretty
Pretty weak to have let it go on this long

So depressing how old this is. We are all getting old. Also depressing this album was never celebrated and never will be. Life sucks

Good comment bro. I feel like you said what a lot of us are thinking.

I’m glad to know I wasn’t the one to have to point this great lyric out. I appreciate you, sir.

Versions was very overlooked upon release, maybe because it was so different (and coming after the incredible previous album) but it's so infectious and memorable with a unique vibe. Love this band.

  7. B.... B....

Easily one of my favorite bands and albums that'll ever be made. So motherfucking underrated.

I don't get the lyrics although i know all the words. What is it about? I'm not English native.

I always had the perception that this song in particular was talking about someone suffering hallucinations due to mental illness and not drug related. In one of the conversations that the main character partakes in, the ones in the ships sailing on his front lawn told him he was the one that was crazy after the main character was blaming them for the bodies on his floor:

    "We didn't bring the bodies
We didn't throw them on your floor
You are the one who has lost his mind"

On another conversation, they even stated that they didn't even exist because the main character was blaming them for the mess OR the bodies themselves said that they didn't exist and once again affirmed that the character is crazy:

"So they say we aren't really here
So don't just try to punish us
You are the one who has lost his mind"

On the other hand, this also may be interpreted philosophically in the sense that a person might be blaming others/factors as to why they have internal problems/demons/insecurities/etc when all along it was the main person in the first place that is at fault for letting that happen.

Wonderful song from a wonderful band. One of my personal all time favorites; I don't know why. But when I listen to this song, I think of the former and not the latter.
