He had a stroke. He couldn't talk. High Blood pressure killed him. Drinking and smoking cigs along with the pressure of being who he was...was ripped off by many song business industries. Very sad ending. Had a stroke and was in a nursing home 4 years. Elvis Presley admired him and paid his bill...was in a coma, conscious but unaware of surroundings for about 10 years. Everyone deserted him. Michael Jackson admired him and was inspired by him, that's why he danced so much, because Jackie did!!!!!
