Pitney, Gene - Mission Bell Lyrics
(Say that you love me
Say those pretty words
And I will give my love to you)
My love is higher than a mission bell
Deeper than a wishing well
(How strong?)
Stronger than a magic spell
My Love for you is
Wider than the widest sea
(How long?)
Longer than a memory
(How sweet?)
Sweeter than a honey tree
Give me your heart of gold
Your heavenly magic touch
To cherish have and hold
I need your love so much
(Say that you love me
Say those pretty words
And I will give my love to you)
My love is warmer than day in spring
(How bright?)
Brighter than a diamond ring
(How great?)
Greater than a mighty Thing
My love for you
Is taller than the tallest tree
(How soft?)
Softer than the summer breeze
Oh I ask you please to give
Your love, your love, sweet love to me
(How deep?)
Deeper than a wishing well
(How strong?)
Stronger than a magic spell
(How great?)
Greater than a mighty Thing
(How deep?)
Deeper than a wishing well...

Pitney, Gene Mission Bell Comments
Love Gene, but PJ Proby' s version tops this.
Gene could sing anything, love him.
Country, Italian, pop-rock. I can't see him based on his image doing Heavy Metal, Rap or Punk. Guess there is a market and genre for everything and everyone.
Not as good as Donnie Brooks' 1960 hit version but not a bad version.
But if you see Brooks or Proby sing it "live" it makes your flesh crawl
I liked Donnie's but this is good too. Like them both.
I love this song and I love Gene Pitney. Met him several times. Great guy . Miss him so much. Glad he cut this. Checkout my version on CBSEye. - Jersey Guy
